Hehe. So hi there! Welcome to another walkthrough by ThatOneGamer.
I'll be doing a walkthrough of one of my favorites on the SNES, Earthworm Jim (as if you couldn't tell).
I'll be playing this run on Difficult mode just because I feel like it.
Hehe, that guy burping the name of the game always makes me chuckle.
Ok, enough of that.
Just so you know, I won't actually start till about 3:05 as I'm going to show what Jim does when he stays still for awhile. It's pretty funny the stuff he does.
This song is also pretty damn cool. My favorite in this game actually.
Throughout this walkthrough, I'll be showing as many secrets as I can find and know how to obtain.
There are some items down the road I will show but won't know how to get.
And I WILL die through the course of this walkthrough. I'm not a super expert like other people who have uploaded walkthroughs for this game.
Seriously, do something already, Jim.
Hehehe
How many characters do you know can play jump rope with their HEAD?
He must REALLY like to play jump rope with his head.
And toss his gun in the air...
Come on, show the best one, already!
Hehe, ***.
Keep your pants on, stupid.
Haha! There's the best one! Love it when he shoots himself like that. But now on with the walkthrough! (Finally...)
Notice how Jim uses only one hand and his head to move across the chain and even hangs from it with just his head. Pretty unique compared to other fictional characters.
And here's the cow...that for some reason HAS to be launched in order to advance.
The cow looks nervous about being launched, not sure why it doesn't just MOVE to avoid being launched.
Oh well. Sure went flying from being launched from a refrigerator though.
I said keep your pants on, stupid!
Now then, make a running jump and carefully time it so you can fall in between this narrow gap.
Then just follow the chain to the 1-Up you saw at the start, along with a plasma blast.
If you hold the jump button on these tires, you'll jump higher. Otherwise, it'll be more difficult to maneuver around them.
Take these pulleys for another blaster powerup along with a secret swirl. What secret swirl you may ask? Look closely...
Did you see that yellow swirl thing briefly appear? Each one indicates an item or items have appeared.
And what did that swirl unlock, you ask?...No clue actually. Never did find out. Sorry :)
But here's a secret that I haven't seen in other walkthroughs. First, make a running jump onto this pulley.
And..stay ONTO the pulley...
And then just before it falls off, jump off of it and whip your head to the left to grab a hook.
This...obviously takes some practice...
Damn dog!!
The dog's name is Fifi and is the owner of New Junk City, named Chuck.
FINALLY got it...
Jump your way across these pulleys and two more Fifis will be up ahead.
Your first thought might be, "A TOILET? And, uh, what do plan to do with it, exactly?"
Well, this...
Even though you get teleported instead of flushed, it takes you to a hidden area with SIX plasma blasts.
And if you look carefully, you'll see the area is located directly underneath where the boss, Chuck, is at.
To get out, just walk through the wall on the left (you can't walk back through the wall, though).
You'll find a 1-Up in this area and takes you directly to the mini-boss, the Tireman (not sure what his name is).
He has 3 phases: First he stomps the ground causing tubas to fall once every other stomp.
Second, he'll morph into a tank and fire anvils at you like a cannon that falls just short of the other side of the screen.
Then he'll charge after you and if he gets close enough, he'll bash you with an uppercut and you'll restart the right from Phase 1.
Be sure to stay on the RIGHT side of the screen as it's easier to dodge him. Blast him from the FRONT only or you won't do any damage to him.
That's where I would normally come from had I gone the other way.
Now here's a swirl I DO know what it does. Notice when I first swing over here, there's nothing.
Now, if you move forward a little from this cliff, a swirl appears.
And NOW when you swing over, the super health item appears.
Sheesh, I'm having a hell of a time. Not a good sign...
The super health item gives 50% health in Difficult, 75% in Normal, and 100% in Practice mode.
If you jump on this spring high enough, there is some ammo and health up here, though be careful on your way back down.
Chuck, here, isn't too difficult. Whip the boxes that the magnet brings down onto the spring but watch for tubas that the magnet will also bring down.
Yes, he's actually vomiting at you to attack...Stay to the far right to avoid them.
Shooting at him does no damage. He'll just make armpit farts to taunt you and vomits more fish at you.
Now he'll start swinging back and forth to make it harder to hit, but you can also get the above goodies if you weren't able to earlier.
Since I'm on Difficult mode, he'll NOW vomit fish nonstop until one of you is defeated, so you'll have to be careful when whipping the boxes.
The fish fall at progressively longer distances in intervals of six, with the seventh falling at the shortest distance again.
You suck.
Ah, cartoon physics, pulling items out of thin air.
And now for Andy Asteroids. You race the villain Psycrow through a "wormhole" containing asteroids.
If you win, you immediately advance to the next level. If you lose, you have to fight him.
Hold the jump button to accelerate and press the whip button to use the shields when you get them to safely fly through the asteroids.
If you collect at least 50 blue spheres, you get a continue, which takes the form of a can of worms.
Storywise, Psycrow is hired to get the suit to the Queen so she can rule the galaxy.
However, an unknown ship stole the suit, and in the ensuing firefight (which consisted of them pulling consecutively bigger guns on each other with Psycrow winning)...
The stolen suit fell down to earth after Psycrow blasted the ship away. At the time, Jim was just an ordinary worm, eating dirt and avoiding crows like usual.
Then the opening of the suit fell on top of Jim, transforming him into a larger and intelligent worm (well, intelligent by earthworm standards)
Jim learns of a Princess needing rescuing so that's what he's doing, though also avoiding Psycrow and other enemies who want the super suit for their own ends.
So there you go. Hope you like it so far. See you in the next level!
