after these wars are over uh... eventually generals after retired now
it's interesting that uh... to speculate on what they're going to afterward if
you've been following the show drink makes it clear that very often they have
much closer relationships of defense contractors and we'd like
now we have some data actually from a report released on monday but assistance
for responsibility and ethics in washington
and there's some statistics about others or simply if it is these ex-general step
two
and this is perhaps not surprising for viewers of the young turks but from two
thousand nine two thousand eleven up seventy six percent or seventy percent
of top generals took jobs at the fence contractors or consultants
that seems kinda bad it's actually an improvement on behalf decade period the
came before it went eighty percent dead right it's still a giant number and had
a hike downside reinforces the notion that we live in this e-mail military
industrial complex
not only does the u_s_ have invested interest in creating warriors
uh... because the fact that we manufacture weapons but all decided we
have our retired generals working for private contractors which obviously also
have a vested interest to go to war because that's how they make their money
yet we should take note that some of these generals when they go on these
jobs retain positions as consultants to the department of defense
and so it's not that i'm bothered with the fact that after they leave military
service
they're serving with these consultants and with these contractors
it so that they know who that that's what they're gonna end up doing and then
it has the bit ability to compact the decision making that they have while
they're there
perhaps if they're trying to get a job with raytheon after the end
the their military service perhaps they're more willing to recommend buying
products from them while they're part of the military
now think we we've seen some indications of the last ten years that
even when politicians are pushing for particular extremely expensive defense
contractor projects
sometimes the military even turns it down so that's a good sign they could
just accept whatever is given to them
they don't always do that
it certainly seems that the case that when you hundreds of thousands of
dollars on the line after you leave the military
there certainly the chance that the influence how you act while you're in
the military
