Hi, I'm John Guion from Bell Nursery for Expert Village. We are going to help you prepare
your garden for Winter today. Today we are going to talk about why Fall is the best time
to plant. Everything, bulbs, perennials, tree, shrubs love to planted this time of year.
The roots grow, the plant goes dormant, bulbs you know, the Tulips, the Daffodils, the Crockus,
they all get planted now and they grow underground. When the temperature starts warming in February,
March and April, out the bulbs come and you enjoy them first thing in the Spring. Perennials
love to get planted this time of the year. They plant now, the underground grows, the
roots all grow and next year the Perennial pops up and you enjoy it all Spring, Summer
and Fall so again the next year. The snow is fantastic for plants. The water gets down
in slowly and you don't usually have to water in the Winter time. The misconception is you
don't need to water in the Winter time. If we have no rain, you need to water. One month
of no rain and you better be out watering your plants especially if you did just freshly
plant them in the fall.
