How are you today? - Little stressed out, but everything is going well.
I have confidence in Berni and Rupi, they are a masterpiece of nature.
That's the director's staff.. In case someone's messing up.
We started off with shooting the underwater scene, which we did in a diving center.
What we did was not a classic example of underwater shooting, since only the actors and not the camera had to go underwater.
We covered the pool walls with black molleton to get an interesting effect and a mysterious atmosphere, instead of the usual swimming pool feeling.
Here we can see Andi's jogging pants..
The molleton needs to be moved a little bit more to the...
He needs to dive deeper, we can't see anything.
First you are sceptical, then you are getting curious and more positive until you finally accept to dive into a new world.
Try not to swim too hectically and better close your eyes.
Closed eyes? - Yes, now with closed eyes.
Well who is going to get that? I have no idea..
This is Mr. Florian Bayer, he set up the electricity in here.
A problem that came with the diving was Giovi's costume, which didn't stay in place.
At first we didn't get the actors to dive to the position where we needed them to be.
She needs to dive deeper, about 2,5 metres.
There's even water outside of the pool, dripping from the ceiling. Doesn't look healthy.
The ceiling is going to collapse any minute now.
Because of the water it was getting very cold for the actors after some time.
Generally it was very cold these three days, like the shooting on the church roof as well as those in the woods and the fire scene.
Are you cold? Anyway, Sebi is taking care of you. But only the back, right?
How did you find the shooting so far?
Cold.
Flo is warming up under a blanket, it's bloody cold here.
You look like a miniature version of Felix Baumgartner's space capsule.
I think I look like kebab.
Can I help with choosing the right shoes?
Maybe a heeled one.. Ah, good choice!
I need shoes now, Flo is making everything wet.
Berni is giving final instructions.
Giovi wants to dive head first now.
There's even an animal down there!
Giovi, how is the shooting? - Everything's fine!
How do you like your costume? - It's nice!
New shooting day! We are in the outskirts of Vienna where we are shooting at a rather unusual church.
I could hold my hood with my teeth!
The biggest problem of the second shooting day was the height of the building.
The whole team had to get up a vertical ladder, which was harder than it sounds since we had to climb pretty far.
Matthias, one of the actor, even suffers from vertigo.
You can never go back down now!
How do you feel? - Well, I just climbed up what felt like 50 metres.
That wasn't even 10 metres. - Shush, they don't know that!
Because of the intense shooting, the actors really had to go to their limits.
Underwater, fire scenes, permanent coldness, rooftop-shootings - those are not really everyday shooting conditions.
I can't look down there anymore, I'm feeling sick.
Concentrate on that spot over there! - Alright.
That's the most extreme shooting I've ever done, considering pushing my personal boundaries.
Giovi is running up there and you follow her over here.
Florian, our protagonist, represents a human being seeking the meaning of life.
So you're not a ghost, what are you then?
A figure.
A figure in jogging pants?
There's our "figure".
I must say, my meaning of life isn't small and red.
While he is seeking the meaning of life, he gets in contact with the four substances.
He encounters figures representing Mother Nature, Wisdom and Death.
She portrays a mysterious recurring character and it's like she's playing a game of tag rather than running away from him.
She simply makes it hard for him to find and catch her.
We wanted to make an open end by not showing her face when he finally catches her.
How are you feeling today?
Good, very good!
I've nothing more to say at the moment.
I think we're going to have to shoot at night.
Looks like a burning pizza margherita!
The thing with the fire is not working out so well. - Why?
Because it's just a tiny fire and we need big flames!
We had a special flame paste, of which we thought that it would make a fire of about two metres.
Our idea was to get a wall of fire in the background by making a line with this paste.
Unfortunately, it was only burning about that much, so this was another setback.
A shocked crew, nobody is moving.
Please, not now.
Are you feeling great? - I don't know.
Does fire makes you feel great? - No.
We found a decent solution with using the mounds of earth on this site and putting the paste on there to make the fire look bigger.
I got it! They make the fire at a higher place so that it looks bigger!
More, more!
When we did the post-processing, we made bigger flames and added more fire to get a more impressive effect.
The most extraordinary scene we did was probably the one with the molotov cocktail.
Our hearts are beating heavily now.
I'll fill half of the bottle, put a small scrap of cloth in there, light it and then throw it against the wall, just to see how it's looking.
You'd better stand back now.
Can I quickly change lenses? - You're kidding, right?
First we lighted the molotov cocktail and left it on the ground, but nothing happened.
But the second one which he threw against the wall looked really great.
That's an awesome feeling!
Tony, victory dance!
Let's hope it works out!
Everything had to go very fast.
We did this scene with two seperate takes, first we had Flo running and then Martin threw the molotov cocktail
A big plus was, that we already knew almost everyone from past shootings.
Bernhard, are you satisfied with the shooting?
Yes, I'm very happy.
We basically wanted to have a good camera, but then we booked too much by accident and got him.
Today we have escalope with pastries to get ourselves new energy.
Is it sharp?
Yes... No it's not sharp.
Yes it is..
No it isn't.
We celebrated a birthday on set.
We have to confess, we made this whole thing up just to have a surprise party for you!
The making of was mainly done by Sebastian Kreis.
This is Mr. Making Of! I should hand this back to him.
I should hand this back to him.
Sebastian, could you do a making of without constantly insulsting us? - We'll have to add the beep-sound.
I think that's what's making his making of special.
What's part of a good making of? - A cool guy behind the camera, who we sadly don't have this time.
No, Sebastian is doing a great job. - He could swear a little less. - And stop losing the camera that often.
Many of us just took the camera when they had nothing to do, which got us some funny scenes.
Is this an interview or are you just filming me stupidly?
Both. Do you need lip balm, you're lips are pretty dry.
Yeah I know... - Thanks for the batteries!
How are you? - Fine, thanks.
You?
Show us your willy. - No, it's too cold!
Well ok, if you like.
We'd like to thank everyone involved.
It was very exhausting and cold but I think we were great together and the results are great and it paid off.
I think we ended the last making of exactly the same.
Most worthless making of ever.
