What does decalcifying your pineal gland do?
Calcification of the pineal gland is correlated with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
Does de-calcification improve brain function?
They've seen calcification of the pineal gland as early as age two, and those kids still
managed to get through school. Calcification of the pineal gland tends to increase with
age, but we don't have proof that decalcifying it will improve your memory or your hormones
or anything else.
What does the pineal gland do?
We know it makes melatonin, which regulates sleep, and we know it regulates hibernation
in some animals. And it helps regulate your biorhythms.
I heard it was the seat of the soul.
That started with Descartes. However, that's a theory based on the fact that it is located
in the center of the brain.
That's the location of the third eye.
You don't have a third eye. If you did, you'd be on the WTF Reddit forum.
Where did Descartes get his idea?
Descartes thought you could only have one thought at a time, with consolidation taking
place at a central point of the brain. Because the pineal gland is in the middle of the brain
and surrounded by the carotid arteries, he said that seat of the soul was the pineal
gland.
Location, location, location.
The pineal's location is also where a third eye would be located looking face on at a
person, so it gets credit for being the Ajna chakra.
That's a state of mystical awareness. So decalcifying it improves your state of awareness.
But no yoga diagrams show a third eye in the middle of the skull, and none of them every
said to remove calcium buildup from the brain to increase spiritual centering. All the decalcification
of the pineal to awaken your centers has no basis in science.
Science doesn't even know fully what it does.
Then we know for a fact that taking a lot of herbs to decalcify it has no scientific
basis.
You have no faith in these sorts of things.
Decalcify if you want, but don't put your faith in miracle cures, or expect it to result
in enlightenment.
