- Only 17 kilometres from the capital there is another highlight that you should visit, it's astrobleme lake.
- I will tell you later what exactly is that, in a diameter of over 100 and 22 metres of depth.
- And you need to walk a bit, to get a view of 9 meteorite craters.
- Taking into account that the landscape of the country is flat, this hill probably must be the crater.
- And this is only one of them, but the biggest, with the strange name Kaali.
- Urgh, I think so far this hike is the highest in this country.
- Ahhh, yeah you can see it!
- It has such a round shape, it's like just a perfect kind of round, beautiful, and it's so frozen.
- And back to the explanation, astrobleme lake is a type of lake which was created by a meteorite.
- So, if we translate it from Latin, it means something like “scars of stars”.
“Astro” stars, and “bleme” that's like spots or scars.
- Still scientists can't estimate just the precise age of this lake and this crater,...
...but there is a version they say that the meteorite fell to the Earth like 2700 years ago...
...so, just imagine that at the same time all of the pyramids in Egypt were already built.
- And the people who were living here of course were scared, and after they saw some kind of flashing body from outer space...
...and going here and crashing the Earth they thought that that should probably be the grief of the sun.
- At least you can find this explanation in Scandinavian sagas.
- You know that actually this is the biggest crater created by a meteorite in Europe,...
...this is a really worth visiting place and it's the highest documented concentration of meteorites in Europe.
- I can imagine how many people you can find here on high season, in the summer.
- And in the spring, no one, only me, that's so cool, the whole lake is for me, for my eyes to enjoy.
- And for my camera to make pictures ...beautiful!
- I think I will not use this opportunity to fall down.
