The Clyde cancer cluster test results done inside some homes in Clyde are now
back
and those involved are speaking out about just what was found.
Our Jonathan Walsh has been following this case closely. He is live in Clyde
with more what happened today, Jonathan.
Well attorneys representing twelve different people,
seven kids, five adults who had cancer say they found
significant and important information concerning dust samples that they've
collected
in six Clyde homes but here's the catch,
they did not elaborate on what that all means. Only saying they want the U.S. EPA
and the Ohio EPA
to review the data and then do some testing on their own.
Well the families involved with all this they were pretty emotional today as they
told us
what they want. I think a lot of the families are tired.
Dave Hisey is the father of two children, Tyler Smith and Tanner Hisey,
who are apart of the eastern Sandusky County childhood cancer cluster.
Tired of a kid waking up crying in the morning. Tired of your son telling you to
call the hospital
that he needs answers because he recently discovered a lump on his neck and he's
been sick. Dave listened to his attorney Alan Mortensen talk about further tests
that need to be done on Clyde homes.
Mortenson hopes the U.S. EPA and Ohio EPA will follow up on those tests.
Dave and others like Steve Keller who lost his grandson Kole
and Warren Brown whose daughter Alexa died from cancer say
they want the facts. If the truth in fact comes in the form of $10 million dollars
or $10 dollars it does not matter.
Kids are still getting sick. We want to make the area a safer area
because it's a great town, a great area. The problems these families have faced
with pediatric cancer date back 6 to 7 years.
So you can imagine talking about their constant struggles
is difficult. Just give me a second.
Mortensen tells us his firm will hire additional experts to further this case
and hopefully give families just like the Hisey's peace of mind.
From the youngest daughter to the oldest daughter to my wife
we just need to know and some of it we'll never know because
they wake up every morning with the fear
that it is going to come back. Reporting in Clyde, I'm Jonathan Walsh.
