Hi, it’s Steve from PartSelect. Today we’re going to show you how to put a wheel mounting
strip on your dishwasher rack. Easy job, no tools required; let me show you how it’s
done.
The first step in this repair is to remove the upper dish rack. It’s a lot easier to
replace the part with the rack out on a convenient workspace. To do so, pull the rack out as
far as it will go, and holding the guide rails push the rack back out of the way. Remove
the guide stops by locating the tab towards the center of the dishwasher, sliding the
guide stop out. Do the same on both sides. Now the rack will pull completely out of the
track and we can put it on a convenient workspace.
Now that we have the rack on a suitable workspace, to remove the wheel mounting strip, what we
need to do, because this is keyed into both the middle and rear mounting bracket, we need
to tilt the middle portion up, cant it backwards so we can pull it through the rear mounting
bracket until it clears, and then we’ll lower the strip to clear the middle mounting
bracket.
Now that we have the wheel mounting strip off of the rack, we need to remove the rollers
from that strip. They’re held in place by a couple tabs on each roller, we can just
break those out of the way because we’re not using them anymore. Try not to damage
the roller.
Just take a flat blade screwdriver, just put it in here, snap the tabs off, then you can
pry them off of there.
We’re going to reuse the rollers.
To mount the wheels on the mounting strip what we need to do is get a solid surface
underneath it, take the wheel, line it up over the axel, and press very firmly until
it snaps into place.
Now we’re ready to put the new strip back onto the rack.
To install the mounting strip back onto the rack we’ll locate the V-shaped portion towards
the middle bracket, slide it in, tilt it upwards, locate the rear one, and rotate the strip
so it slides freely up & down. Now we’re ready to reinstall the rack into the dishwasher.
To reassemble the rack into the dishwasher pull the guide rails out fully, locate the
rear wheels into the tracks, make sure both sides go in, reinstall the guide stops, make
sure to press firmly onto the end of the guide, snap the clips into place, and our repair
is complete.
That’s just how easy it was to put a mounting strip on your dishwasher rack; thanks for
watching, and good luck with your repair.
