For the first time, Chris Kahui, the father of the Kahui twins,
has given evidence regarding the *** of his twins four years ago.
He stood before the Coroners Court today
at the Auckland District Court.
Our reporter Kingi Kiriona was there.
We cross live to him now for the latest information.
At this very minute, Chris Kahui stands before the Coroners Court.
However, Te Karere was able to capture his statement
being read by his lawyer.
Some of which refutes what Macsyna King said this morning.
First, Chris Kahui's lawyer read his official statement.
However, this was denied
by the Kahui twins' mother Macsyna King this morning.
The Coroner also says that some of the injuries
to the head and ribs of the both babies were sustained
two weeks prior to their deaths.
New information released today was that Chris and Macsyna
had considered aborting the twins.
Macsyna also received threats on her life
after the twins were admitted to hospital.
In the morning, Macsyna took the twins to hospital,
but Chris did not accompany her.
According to Macsyna, that was very odd for him.
However, Chris' lawyer says this is because Chris was angry at her
for being away the day before that.
According to Macsyna, Chris was not interested
in supporting her when the twins were admitted to hospital.
She says she phoned Chris seven times that day, with no response.
Macsyna was also queried about her P use.
Her response was that it did not affect her ability
to care for the children.
Kingi Kiriona, thank you for that report.
