I'm originally from Oakland, California, which is in the San Fransisco Bay area. I was drawn
to Hofstra just because, well, definitely the program that I was interested in, but
I eventually want to stay in New York City, so I feel it gives me a great opportunity
of building a network for these two years in New York without living and going to school
in the hustle and bustle of the city. I think one of the things that I liked the most is
that they talked about having small classes. Where I went to undergrad we had 300 people
in our lectures, whereas here at Hofstra, one of my classes has nine people, so I like
that, so all in the class is like a family. All the professors I’ve had so far have
had real world experience. It wasn’t like they came from their Ph.D. program into teaching
so they’re able to relate it to the real world, and I think that’s one of the great
benefits is that they have that experience so we can relate what we’re learning in
class to the real world. Because of the evening program, other business schools (something)
students, a lot of them are really flexible because the students work, so they’re really
flexible but they’re scheduled, even, communication via email. I mean, I’ve emailed my professor
back and forth on the weekends. It’s great to know it’s not limited Monday through
Friday. A lot of them are there prior to the beginning of class so you have that time ahead
and you have time after in addition to their office hours or just setting up an appointment.
There’s actually a lot of international students in my classes. There’s definitely
a benefit. One of my good friends is from Turkey, so it’s good, talking to her about
Turkey, and I tell her about California. There are specific people in the career center to
help business students. One of the benefits with the Career Center doing the Career Fair
is you have a prior knowledge of what companies are going to be there so you can prepare yourself
with questions and with questions on specific opportunities that may be available. My name
is Rei Esoimeme. I took my M.B.A. in Management at Hofstra University.
