I want to become a Fire Paramedic
in the Santa Barbara County.
I don't come from a fire background so it would be nice
to be able to go out there
and not be a complete, complete rookie.
But there's a lot of wild-land fires
and that would help out a lot.
The skills we're being trained in is progressive hose lays,
initial attacks, doing fire walls,
learning all the tools, how to sharpen them.
Basically, how to fight a wild-land fire.
I think the most valuable would probably be shelter deployment.
We learned how to deploy them as quickly as possible,
the safest ways of doing it.
There's a lot of wild land
so I can apply these skills anywhere in California.
It's just a great program.
It's fun. Its a good environment to be in
and it was just a big eye opener to everything.
Hancock's made a big difference in my life.
I've learned a lot.
I definitely feel like Hancock has given me good experience
and a place to start from in going out into the fire career.
