>> TRISH: Hey everyone, welcome back to Sourcefed, I'm Trisha Hershberger
>> STEVE: and I'm Steve Zaragoza & brace yourselves because today is "The Day We
Fight Back".
>> TRISH: The Day we fight back
>> STEVE: The day WE fight back
>> TRISH: That's right Steve -- the internet is telling NSA that they cannot spy on our
data - no no! Back in 2012 the internet banned together to conquer censorship litigation
and it worked and now, 2 years later, with the threat of mass surveillance, it's time
to do it again!
>> STEVE: We got Tumblr, Reddit, Mozilla, Upworthy, Thunderclap, the EFF
>> TRISH: Electronic Frontier Foundation
>> STEVE: and the ACLU
>> TRISH: the American Civil Liberties Union
>> STEVE: all telling the NSA to take their surveillance and stick it where the sun don't
shine. According to thedaywefightback.org, today is the day that "Together we will
push back against powers that seek to observe, collect, and analyze our every digital action.
Together, we will make it clear that such behavior is not compatible with democratic
governance. Together, if we persist, we will win this fight."
>> TRISH: Most sites will be protesting via banners, not complete shut downs. The goal
of "The Day we Fight back" is really to raise awareness and you yourself will be asked
to share memes like these and change your profile pics to reflect your stance and maybe
even hashtag a bit and/or join in at r/thedaywefightback if you so choose!
>> STEVE: So what sensationalized call to action movie titles can you come up with to
make sure the government doesn't have it's peepers in your ***? Let us know in the comments
below.
