Welcome to Speech Link Multimedia Limited.
Since 2004, we've been working in partnership
with teachers, speech and language therapists,
learning support specialists and parents to provide
high quality speech, language and communication
support for school-aged children.
Using a secure site, our assessments and
resources are focused on identification and intervention -
assessing a single child or whole class
class to identify pupils with developmental speech
or language difficulties.
Our Speech and Language Therapist team
has developed four packages for the
mainstream classroom; Speech Link, Infant Language Link,
Junior Language Link, and Secondary Language Link.
Speech Link combines both an intervention package including resources,
to use with all children in the mainstream primary classroom,
and an evaluation tool to identify and manage developmental
speech difficulties in children aged between 4 and 8 years.
Speech Link provides a strong system to support
teachers, and teaching assistants, to build the foundation for
underpinning the development of literacy skills.
Infant Language Link is used by teachers to assess pupils
aged 4 to 8 years for developmental
difficulties in understanding language.
The innovative, online multimedia package
also includes a comprehensive range of resources as
well as offering practical suggestions on how to manage
language difficulties within the mainstream classroom.
The early identification of children at risk of language
and communication difficulties leads on to school-based support
to strengthen the child's language before learning to read.
Junior Language Link is an online multimedia package for use with
children aged 7 to 11 in the mainstream classroom.
It combines a standardised assessment of the understanding
of language, and an innovative screening tool
for social understanding to be used with children aged 11.
Intervention includes a comprehensive range of resources and
practical suggestions on how to manage
language difficulties in the classroom.
Secondary Language Link is a multimedia package
enabling schools to identify secondary aged pupils
with language and social communication needs.
The package incorporates interactive classroom space
and video-based social situations
to capture the interest of young people.
The wide range of resources available
are designed to enhance teaching and learning
for these pupils.
We provide a fully accessible, interactive,
online training course that is tailored to the teachers
and teaching assistants who
will be the main users of the packages.
A series of short training modules include
video explanation, presentations, exercises,
and regular Q and A sessions with our team
of Speech and Language Therapists.
A certificate is awarded for each person
on completion of the course.
Karen Rockall, an early years coordinator,
has experience using both the Speech Link
and Infant Language Link packages
at Blean Primary School.
K.Rockall: What I like about the Speech Link package,
is that you feel that you are actually
identifying specific needs
for particular children.
It also means that some children aren't
sitting on a waiting list,
waiting for Speech and Language Therapy
for a long time.
You're immediately helping them.
Because the company also offer
really good training,
it means that everybody understands
what they are delivering,
and that there are no mistakes made.
It's really good as well that
the team are on the other end of
the phone, so if you have any queries,
they can liaise with Speech and Language Therapy,
and give you advice.
And I really like that the fact
that we know exactly what the gaps are
in children's understanding and in
their language development, because
often they can go under the radar.
It gives us the power,
to know that we're meeting the needs
of all of our children.
Speech Link and Language Link are already used
used in schools in the UK, Australia and New Zealand,
with around 50,000 children screened
with Infant Language Link each year.
Our packages are supported by a team of
seven Speech and Language Therapists,
and standardised in collaboration
with the University of Cambridge.
With Speech Link and Language Link, the Teacher is in control,
empowered by easy-to-use online packages
and practical, comprehensive, classroom based advice.
