- Hiya! - Hey guyssss
- So today, since I'm currently living in the UK and as we have an actual British person
right here with us to share her expert view, we thought we'd make a video about good souvenirs
for Japanese people (or anyone really for that matter) to buy when visiting the UK!
We are going to divide it into two categories: spend and splurge -- so for those of you who
want to buy something special or if you're just looking for something on a lower budget,
there's something for everyone. - Okay, so there are a lot of really nice
British brands. I would say if you're buying something for, say, your mum, or a lady who's
a bit older than you (...!) then maybe somewhere like Jo Malone?
- Jo Malone, yeah. That's a famous one, comes from London right?
- Yeah, it's like candles, hand creams, stuff like that...
- They have perfume too - Yeah. It's a bit expensive, but it's really
nice -- smells amazing. - Ok...any others?
- If you're looking for something like Jo Malone but a bit cheaper, I really like White Company.
- Ohhh yeah I know it, that one's cool.
- Yeah it's a really stylish, simple shop -- everything is white
- Yeah, it's literally a 'white' company -- I wouldn't say it's a general store but hmmm...how would you put it...
- Kind of like candles and some clothes
- They sell sheets and stuff like that too - Yeah, just like random stuff but it's really
good, really fashionable - It's really cool.
Ok so...how about stuff for dads or older men?
- Probably something like Molton Brown. It's kind of luxury...I would say cosmetics but
it's more tailored to guys -- you can get little shaving sets and stuff like that that
are really nice. - Classy style, right. Kinda typical British
gentleman. - Yeah! But a kind of cheaper version of that
is probably Neal's Yard. It's based in Covent Garden in London and they've got loads of
similar things -- it's all organic -- creams, shower gels, stuff like that. They're really
good. As with regards to guys, like our kind of
age...there are millions of good shops in the UK.
- Loads, right. How about All Saints? - Yesss
- All Saints is wicked, right. - We love All Saints! I'd say it's for girls
and guys really. It's quite expensive but... - Yeah it's pretty pricey. I'd say it's kind
of like the British version of Diesel, kinda mode / rock style. It's really cool.
- Loads of quite dark pieces, but they're really nice. After that for guys...
- If you had to recommend a little cheaper place...?
- How about Jack Wills? - Ah Jack Wills! Yesss! That is very quintessential UK.
- That's like THE typical British brand -- everybody
has the Jack Wills gillet (body warmer / vest). - Yup, I have one. I'm a sell-out.
- Lol me too. You can get cheaper things in there too, like pencils and mugs and stuff.
- They do USB sticks too! - Yeah, it's a really good one.
- It's like the British Abercrombie & Fitch. - Yeah, kind of student-ish brand.
- It's very classic UK, very cool. - After that, there's the typical high street
shops like River Island. - River Island is cool. Topman / Topshop too.
They're both quite similar. - Topshop is a lot cheaper in the UK than
it is in Japan, so it's good to buy a lot! For girls, I love Whistles!
- Haha yesss, Whistles is sick. - You probably saw in our vlog...I am crazy
about that shop! Then there's Jigsaw as well -- quite a famous, simple, elegant brand.
- Those two are really stylish. Ok, so any cheaper place recommendations?
- I would say New Look. New Look shoes are amazing! They're so cheap and so amazing,
it's definitely a good place to stock up on really nice high heels, and they have really
nice boots as well. That's a good place to go.
- Okay. Also, you can't forget Primark. - Ah yeah, Primarniiiii!
- The reason everyone calls is Primarni is quite funny - the actual shop is called Primark,
and it's dirt cheap -- cheaper than Uniqlo -- so in a kind of ironic fashion to make
it sound cooler, people merge it with 'Armarni' and call it 'Primarni'.
- It's crazy cheap, seriously crazy cheap. - But the designs are actually not bad!
- Yeah, you can get some really really cheap designer knock-offs in there, it's crazy good.
- So cheeeeap. Yet sooo good. - That's probably about it for the fashion
brands. If I had to recommend any traditional sweets or anything, I'd probably say
Terry's Chocolate Orange -- you know that orange, chocolate thing?
- Ahh that one! Yeah I love that! It tastes really good.
- It's like a chocolate...orange...
- It's got orange extract in, right? Yeah, basically chocolate in the style of an orange. Really delicious!
- So yeah, that's probably about it! Happy shopping!
- Happy shopping!
Definitely, if you get the chance to come to the UK, I think these are really good places
to get souvenirs, so I hope this comes in handy! That's it for today, so until next time,
BYE BYEEEEE!
