Hey there, it's Les again, author of Plays Well with Others. I want to teach you some
more games. The game we're going to look at in this clip is going to be some game ideas
that you could do as variations of story. The type of story game that we're talking
about is the directed story game that a lot of improv groups play. It's an old traditional
where your players line up across the playing field here, side by side, shoulder to shoulder.
You're going to have a host point at them one person at a time and have them tell their
portion of the story. You can find a description and an example of that game in different clips
here on expertvillage.com, it will be called the Story Game. If you find those, here are
some variations you can play with that. Very often we'll throw these variations in at the
last minute, or even half way through the game, just to give the players some variety
and make sure that their kept kind of on the edge of what's going on and their not to settled
in with expectations. The professional improvisors are always finding ways to chase away their
expectations and feel a little bit of risk and surprise. And so one way can be to change
the emphasis of the game.
