Greetings from Korea's Important Intangible Cultural Properties No. 69,
the master of Hahoe Byeolsingut Talnori, my name is Lee Sang Ho.
Hahoe Talchum (mask dance of Hahoe) originated from Hahoe-***,
Pungcheon-myeon of Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province
of South Korea some 800 years ago.
The mask itself is designated as National Treasure No. 121 and the dance Intangible Cultural Properties No. 69.
Hahoe mask dance is, in a way, an embodiment of Korea's one of the most representative mask dances,
expressed in the form of both tangible and intangible traditions.
The main feature of the performance is the freedom to express human emotions
such as joy, anger, love, pleasure, passion, and ***.
As usual, the City of Andong will be hosting the 13th Andong Mask Dance Festival this year for 9 full days,
starting from Friday, September 25th through Sunday, October 4th,
at the festival site by the Nakdong River and in various locations throughout Hahoe Maeul (town) in the city.
The event will be attended by some 10 countries from around the world,
as well as by Korea's 13 Intangible Cultural Properties and non-designated intangible cultural properties groups.
What will make the program even more exciting are Andong's folk traditions that amass to more than 200 varieties.
Come enjoy the 13th Andong Mask Dance Festival.
Immerse yourself in the beauty and excitement found only in Korea's dynamic dance tradition.
Thank you.
