bjbj I:+[ How to Upload and Install Themes Manually Duration: 4 mins 51 secs In this
video, I m going to show you how to install WordPress themes manually. Now, with the latest
version of WordPress, you can always install themes automatically from the WordPress dashboard.
However, in some cases, some of those themes may not be listed in the WordPress.org directory.
For example, in case maybe you ve bought a premium theme or you ve downloaded a theme
from some other website. In that case, you ll need to install themes manually. So I m
gonna show you an example here. All you need to do is go to WordPress.org; under Extend,
click on Themes. So you can basically search for a theme that you want; there are over
a thousand themes here. So the easiest thing to do is to enter some keywords here and then
click on Search for Themes. For example, if you want a theme that is red, you can just
enter Red, and click on Search. And there you ll find themes that are well, either Red,
or tagged with the keyword So if you find a particular theme that you want to download,
just click on that theme itself and on the Theme Listing page, you ll be able to see
a couple of very important things...first of all, description of the theme and how it
looks like; and also, a preview of the theme. It s very important, so you can basically
see how it looks like before you install the theme on your blog. Alright? Then you can
also see the average rating. So out of 89 ratings this theme has received, almost 4
stars so that s pretty good. So just click on Download. And then you ll be asked to save
the file to your computer.
Okay? Once you save the file, you just need to locate the file in your computer. So this
is the zipped file, so what I need to do is right-click and choose Extract here, or Extract
all files, depending on what type of Zip application that you re using. So this is the folder,
p2, that should contain all the files to make this WordPress theme work on your blog. Then
you need to use an FTP program, for example, like FileZilla, and connect to your web hosting,
and then make sure you click to public_html, select the folder where your blog is installed
in, go to wp-content, and go to the Themes folder. So any WordPress theme that you want
to install manually should be uploaded to this folder. Now, before you upload, make
sure that you re uploading a folder that directly contains the theme files. Do not upload a
folder that contains another duplicate folder that contains the files, okay? So just upload
a single-level directory here; right-click, and click on Upload. So once all your theme
s files have been uploaded via FTP, then just log in to your WordPress dashboard. In your
dashboard, under Appearance, click on Themes. And if you uploaded the files correctly, then
you ll be able to see the new theme here, under all Available Themes. Alright? So this
is the theme that I uploaded earlier. I can preview this theme to see how it looks like
on this blog, and if everything looks okay, and then I can either click on Activate p2
Theme here, or I can close this window and click on Activate. Okay, so it says, New theme
activated. This theme supports widgets, etc. It basically means that your theme has been
installed correctly to your WordPress blog. And that s really how simple it is to install
new WordPress themes manually to your WordPress blog. [m[I7 hCkd hF&' o]oK]K9]o h)iW hF&'
