Nicole, I'm part time so this is my tenth quarter and I'm twenty-nine now, oh my.
I had zero horse experience before coming to Meredith Manor. I always admired them from
afar, you know in pasture, in books, and in movies. I actually think it was beneficial
for me that way because I didn't come in with any bad habits that I needed to change
and the instructors really worked with your level of experience and helped you progress
as much as you are able to.
I'd like to probably groom for somebody or show some horses for somebody, from here
on out I'd like to gain more experience in the horse industry.
I'm Eileen DiNapoli, this is my sixth quarter. I haven't had much horse experience out
in the industry, I volunteered at some places here and there at some ranches and helped
me with lessons and things like that. I had absolutely no experience with training horses
and not much riding but everything has changed now, like I have really felt a lot with horses
and just feeling, you know when your next move is feeling step for step how you can
connect with them and keep their attention and everything on you and it's changed everything
and I'm really excited to go back and learn more and keep going.
I want to get into the reining and cutting and working cow and I really want to get some
show experience. I really like the shows here, this was my only show experience was at Meredith
Manor and I really enjoyed it so I'm excited to see how it's different out in the industry
and different places like that.
I'm Lisa, this is my fifth quarter, and I'm a dressage major. I had pretty much
nothing, I did a little grooming and that's about it, I didn't really ride that much.
I don't feel like I've learned any slower than any of the other students came in with
horse experience, I just didn't have any preconceptions that I might have to change,
so that was helpful.
Hi, I'm Angie Berwick, this is my sixth quarter at Meredith Manor and I'm a dressage
major slash farrier. My experience with horses is little to none. The most I did with a horse
was pet them and pick their feet and kind of love on them and feed them treats.
I chose to do farrier first because it was a shot in the dark and I wanted to try something
completely different that I'd never even heard about before. I took riding to be able
to explain to a trainer or a rider what exactly they're feeling and what the shoeing has
to do with that for them to better understand my job.
I don't feel like having any experience at all or not having any experience at all
really hindered me in any way because it kind of left things as a blank slate to be able
to, for the instructors to be able to write down on your slate and then there's less
for them to have to fix.
