Hi! My name is Adolph Ramirez from Tampa, Florida. On behalf of Expert Village, this
is how to install a ceiling fan. The number one thing to think when you are messing with
electricity is safety, safety, safety. You don't want to get electrically shocked of
course. I've done that before and it is really not fun. The main thing that you want to do
is go out to usually your garage or in some closet where you will have your utility box
which has all your circuit breakers in it, just like this one. Simply open it up and
look inside. I know this may seem intimidating to some people what not but you have all your
breakers here. They should all be switched on of course, if things are working properly
in your home. What you want to do is flip them off just to set off the room, turn off
the power to the room where you are going to be installing your ceiling fan. Usually
on the side of your circuit box, you will have a list of the rooms; your washer and
dryer, your stove, refrigerator anything that is on its individual circuit. Your master
bedroom, your kid's room whatever it is. You simply look through whatever one you need.
Let's say the family room. Go up here, flip the switch and that is it. It will turn off
the power and you don't have to worry about an electric shock. That is the way you turn
off the power before installing a ceiling fan.
