you know but university of phoenix ray lewis yes we we all know about
university of phoenix that the largest for-profit university in the u_s_
i've talked quite a bit over the years about for-profit universities
they are actually being put on probation by their accrediting agency meaning they
they stand to potentially lose accreditation
this bile was revealed in the chronicle of higher education which reported that
the apollo group incorporated which is the parent company of the university of
phoenix reported in a filing with the s_e_c_
that quote
but team of reviewers from the higher learning commission had concluded
that the university had insufficient autonomy
from its corporate
with actually kinda funny
is that this is an really the problem most people have with university of
phoenix pacific lee or for-profit uh... uh...
uh... educators
but it still is making them beyond this kind of its gonna put them on probation
in terms of being accredited
right and i mean when you when you
here are the words for profit college for proper university
i mean don't you just immediately assume that there's not enough autonomy between
uh... said college and or whatever
investors in corporate uh... parents it might have more money get back to that
but just so people have a little bit more of a sense of the university has
and overall graduation rate meaning first-time undergrads who get a degree
in six years six years
of about sixteen percent
and the graduation rate further online programs because they do have campuses
is about a quarter of that only four percent now there's a counter argument
when people say look at that terrible graduation rate the counter-argument is
it's misleading because a lot of students aren't going there to pursue a
degree they're just going there because they need specific classes they wanna
learn the skills that cetera
i don't know that that's a good argument
because i want on their website is very clear that you can take classes
as a non degree enrolled student just like any college of university
i believe don't quote me on this but i believe it's actually less expensive so
why people who aren't looking to get a degree
would enroll in a degree program in the first place on a really now yeah
but here's what i want to get back to us
we instantly a lot and that ultimately setback allot of people when they hear
for-profit college they say
always education for-profit
i guess don't like the sound of that something about that makes me think it's
not really a good thing
for-profit health insurance
why do we accept that
it makes just as a little sense does it not gone because we're stuck
yahoo com
other guys wanted to make one point of all we said before which is that by the
only way i would accept as legitimate the sixteen percent graduation rate
is if uh... the students were more frequently than students add not for
profit colleges transferring to other schools in other words they would start
their career at universities and transfer to somewhere else kerna
something tells me that's not the case and that is a valid statistical point to
be making and uh... i agree with you that there are a number of other things
that are wrong with these calls are from a we need to be as repulsed by dat a
for-profit health care as we are by the idea for-profit colleges unless you're
not repulsed by either or you just love it in your for freedom and liberty and
liberty and you're a sovereign sovereign citizen and all that stuff
then agassi evidence review
someone listening will love it
