[title] Research, Innovation and Education Award - the nominees are [title]
[Emilio Fernandez] I nominated Emilio because of the
great improvements I've seen with the establishment of his
Clozapine Clinic. He's
done a really good job of making and getting a very systematic
documented approach
to the physical and other
parameters that need to be recorded. He's brought that
evidence-based approach to the Clozapine Clinic
and it's very evidenced in the work that he does
and it's really transformed that service. I thought it was very flattering being
nominated for the award
and very surprising and really excited about this. I think for me
it's a combination
I have right now of linking research
with clinical research, clinical questions, with clinical care
that's wonderful simply, thats one of the wonders
I always wanted to have. [Alison Winterton and Amy Cummins] I was extremely impressed
with the new approach that they
had developed with regard to try and help small children we get with autism
We work as part of the team at the child development centre and
we are supporting children through the assessment process of
a diagnosis of autism
Once they've been diagnosed with autism we then support the parents
through how to work with children more effectively. One of the things that
give me the biggest
thrill is when after we've been doing intervention for a little while, we
see a shift in the parents
and the parents begin to enjoy their children again
and one of the parents said to us at the end of the last intervention
programme that we had given her hope
for a path forwards and that for me
was better than - and that's why we come to work
and we're very proud of being nominated because we hope that we
provide a service that we would like to receive if we were parents in the same position
[Valerie Voon]It was a real honour to hear that I was nominated and shortlisted
and it's very nice to be recognized by your colleagues, particularly
colleagues within CPFT.
I think this she is extremely committed to her work and very imaginative and
pushing
and she manages to engage with people, with different people
with a wide spread of people indeed
in a very effective way. I'm a nurse psychiatrist with the CPFT team
and so the primary patient population
are those with neurological disorders
but I'll also see patients with
obsessive-compulsive disorder
In my research capacity
I primarily focus on impulsive and compulsive syndromes
substance abuse disorders or behavioural addictions
and obsessive-compulsive disorder
