I'm excited to come to school in the morning because we do something different everyday.
Each day we learn something new. I came in the sixth grade. At my old school
it was very large. There was not really a sense of community. I was really shy. I didn't
really talk to anyone at all. I came here and now I have so many close friends. I'm
really not that shy any more. So it's really changed me.
I have half the school as my friends. And it's really fun just to get to know all
the kids in the school. Most people would think it's really small
so there's not a lot of friends that you could choose from, but there's 20 people in my class
and they're all my friends. That's the difference. I think my favorite is the learning.
With the help of your teachers and your friends you really get the tools to do your own personal
best. My teachers help me to learn.
The don't yell. They wait patiently. At the old school you couldn't really go up
and ask the teacher for help. Now I feel like I can actually learn stuff.
What's different from my older schools compared to CRS is that the faculty works with you
a lot more. They focus on every single kid and they're
always willing to make you the best student that you can possibly be.
A lot of the work we do is in groups so it's not just the teacher telling you everything.
You get to discuss with the class and discuss in small groups so you get to go more in depth
instead of just having a lecture. What I like about the way they teach science
is that it's very hands on and by the end of the class you really get it and you're
really interested. We did a project about the human body and
you had to write a research paper and make a 3D model.
I like math because we play fun math games that relate to what we're doing.
Math Counts we solve these really cool problems and you learn all these really interesting
facts that you never really knew. Social Studies there's always those food for
thought conversations, like deep discussions that you really need to think about.
In a sharing assembly, the classes go up and perform on stage for other classes.
The buddy program, where older children are paired with younger children has been really
great for me because our buddies are nice to us.
I always like being the person that people can look up to. I think that's a really valuable
thing. What makes CRS special is the community that
we have. You'll be walking down the sidewalk out there and you'll have a pre-Ker come up
and give you a hug or a 3rd grader will come and ask you a question. It's just a really
great environment to be in and to have grown up in. It's been my second home for the past
8 years. And then you always have sports to look forward
to after the day. You just get to hang with your friends, go at it, and get sweaty.
I love to participate in sport. When we don't win, we just get right back
up; and it's all right, we'll try to win the next game.
One of my favorite events is sports day. There's just tons of fun games.
As much as the score does matter, it's really that you had fun, and that you tried your
best and you gave 110% and that's pretty much what CRS is about, is that you being your
best person that you can be. I'm going to graduate this year. I feel confident.
I'm going to miss CRS. I'm ready to go to high school and I feel like I've been really
prepared for whatever comes next after this school and I know that I'm ready to speak
for myself and that I've learned from CRS.
