Hey, how's it going everyone?
So, I just wanted to make a quick video
about this Trayvon Martin case. If you
don't know about the Trayvon Martin case,
basically a 17 year old kid was walking home
from the convenience store and was shot and
killed by a man named George Zimmerman,
and basically it's turned into this big
self defense case which, accordingly,
everyone's saying, you know,
"George should go to jail" and "Trayvon was innocent"
and this and that. I think people are focusing
too much energy on George Zimmerman right now.
I think the main focus should be on, well not
the main focus but I think more of the focus
should be on changing the Stand Your Ground Law.
That law basically states that if you feel that
your life is threatened, you have the right to
use lethal force to defend yourself in
ANY given situation. The only problem I have
with this law, I mean self defense is self
defense and that's fair enough, but the difference is,
when you go out looking for trouble, find the
trouble that you were looking for, and then say,
"Well, I'm in trouble... I have to bail myself out",
and you use lethal force to do that, there has to
be some sort of consequence to that. George Zimmerman
was told be the police NOT to follow Trayvon Martin.
He followed him anyway and then what happened?
Trayvon ends up getting shot in the chest. So, for
the Stand Your Ground Law to apply in this situation
giving George Zimmerman absolute immunity for his actions,
that can't be tolerated. Accordingly, I've created an
online petition where the basic objective is just to modify
the law such that if you PUT yourself into a dangerous
situation and then try to bail yourself out with lethal force,
there will be at least some consequences to pay because
you have to be a little bit smarter than that when dealing
with human life. The link for all of that is down in the
description section of this video. If you're watching this
some where other than YouTube.com, you can just go to
www.QuiteDecent.com and all of the information that you need
should be there. At the end of the day, what Trayvon Martin
represents... He would have been you, he could have been
someone dear to you. He could have simply just been a 17
year old kid on his way home from the convenience store
who didn't need to get shot.
