ARNDT: My name is Jessyca Arndt, and today I’m going to share with you a little bit about my favorite book, the Historian.
DAWS: Today is our first honors symposium. And the Honors Symposium is a chance for our honors students to present the research that
they’ve done in their honors classes throughout the semester. So, they’ve worked really *** these projects that they’re sharing with us
today. We wanted to not only expose our honors students to academic competitions, but also provide them a chance to share their research
with their peer and with other faculty members.
ROMERO: I’m actually really happy because this project meant something to me, um, it was important.
This project was mostly about awareness of Crohn’s disease.
ROMERO: It wasn’t just a bunch of text that I threw up in a projector. It meant something, so I’m glad I got chosen and people thought that
was important.
SOSEBEE: I’m very honored that my work was recognized here at the honors symposium today. I was definitely not expecting a creative
writing project to be chosen as one of the winners, but I am thankful that my work was recognized.
DAWS: We really hope that his symposium shows others just how much importance we at highlands want to place on academic
achievement, and being intelligent, and doing outside research, and learning just for the sake of learning. And I think that’s what our honors
students will show us.
SOSEBEE: I’m excited to go on and present my work at another place.
ROMERO: It is very exciting. All I hope is to just increase awareness of the disease, um, you know if its just in a presentation, if its on
YouTube, if its in a…If I have a bigger audience. That is my main goal is just to increase awareness and maybe help people that would
otherwise not be helped.
