Its a cold morning in Egå Marine, just north of Aarhus Denmark
The thermometer is on five below zero
and the sailboats stands shoulder by shoulder on the pier
but one man throws the frozen lines and goes to sea
I´m out to do manouvres and get some hours of practice
At last the weather is good for sailing again
Ole Larsen has sailed his entire life
and in a few months he is going to cross the Atlantic
in a only 6,5 meter long sailingboat - the Mini 650 - "Geronimo"
I have to practise as much as possible
and then I have to sail 2000 nautical miles of qualification
half I have to sail solo-nonstop
three years ago, he made a choice. He wants to be the first dane
to participate in the big solo-oceanraces. He has struggled to raise money
to be able to buy the small yellow racer. It has swingkeel, waterstabilizers
and 123 squaremeters of sail. It has a topspeed of more than 20 knots
and is more wild at sea, than most of those 60-feet racers,
that later is going to bring him around the globe in Velux5Oceans
most important for me is that we show Denmark and the world,
that danish sailors are capable of sailing the greatest races on the solo-arena.
but next to all the press and prestige it is a childhood dream
and the deep feeling of beeing af sailor in the bones
I love the sea.
I could sail everyday, if it was possible All year round!
now you have the possibility to support Ole Larsens project on his way to Velux5Oceans
Visit his website - www.dansail.com and choose between different sponsorships
from the main sponsorships to private contributions, that takes the project further on
and right now the present for the sailor, that has everything. A sailingtrip with Geronimo, this fall
