JACK:If you've built up your business say at a different time, in the ninteen
nineties
you need people around you that understand the world as it is today
so I think bringing on young people is not only an important social
contribution
but is vital for the success of the business as well. HEATHER: At the end of the day we
have a lot of industries that are doing well and to maintain that
then I think the youth component is really essential. MARGARET: With so many of our
industries
having an aging workforce then bringing in young people in is really important in
order to bring their ideas, their insights but also to prepare when baby boomers
start to retire. STUART:The pull of
aircraft mechanics has been diminishing and has been for some time
so from our point of view we are trying to sort of future employment
and employability for young people so longer term we can actually
grow and make sure we've got the right mix of skills and attitude. LESLEY: I think it also adds another dimension to the business. I think we talk a lot about digital natives
I think bringing younger people into your workforce actually opens up a whole range of
opportunities and perspectives in terms of business development, in terms of your own
organisation that wouldn't happen
if you actually just constantly reinforce it with the same time of person.
ANGELA: For the employers
I feel they are going to get a young person they can train up,
that they are going to benefit in the long run with their new ideas, opinions, their
determination because all young people want to work, they want to gain the
experience and hopefully that's what the employers who benefit from in the long run.
