[MUSIC/SONG]
Recruit’s evening’s a big party.
[MUSIC/SONG]
To Tekong comes MDC.
Sing song, dancing all quite cool.
Too bad MDC got no chio-bu.
Recruit Guoquan: I... I'm not very sure what's going to happen at the Recruit's evening.
Because this... After all, my first time and I've never asked my senior or anyone with regards to this event.
I just see it as a means for us to relax. To maybe prepare us for our last stretch...
our POP (Passing Out Parade). The... Graduation Parade and the 24km Route March.
CPT Roger Chen: Recruit's evening is usually organised a week before their graduation parade.
It is an opportunity for them to let their hair down...
Enjoy with their buddies, as well as to celebrate... Them coming to an end of BMT.
MC: Good evening BMTC School 2! We are the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company...
Recruit Danial: I think they were really polished... and...
Those who were singing the vocals were really nice... And very clear.
I think the Recruit's evening was... quite unexpected.
I think the most memorable part for me would be the... Recruit's performance.
Especially by my company and Ninja company.
Recruits: Digging shellscrapes all day long. See wild boar. All kan chiong. Sergeant. Sergeant. Come help us...
Our... Our company's song... performance was... funny.
Can't you see... You belong to me... How our arms ache... With every pump I take...
My name... 3rd Sergeant Chee... Chee Chiong FUN!!!
(applause and laughter)
Because... I like to have... a lotta..(clap) FUN!!!
(laughter)
Now! I give you 3 kind of station... You still move... like very slow...
(applause and laughter)
Listen to me... Next time...You move... like very slow... We... Are gonna have some... (clap) FUN!
(applause and laughter)
Recruit Nabil: The most enjoyable... Has got to be... Ninja's. Hands down.
It was creative... and they made full use of... the talents that were available... In the company.
MDC ARTISTE Tyara Shariff: You wanna see more?
Recruits: Yeah!
But!
MC: But!
Before that...
MC: That's right!
(giggling)
We need to invite somebody from Orion Company... His name is Danial
(cheering)
Actually... I was at a loss for words... because when I heard my name...
I just... blanked out. Then my section mates just pushed me up there.
May the princess escort him.
So... I heard that you can ... like you know... sing a different language...
in a different language. Is that correct? Okay... So what language is that?
Mandarin.
Mandarin!
So...
This is Danial from Orion company singing for us!
Fa Ru Xue by Jay Chou.
So take it away Danial.
(cheering)
jing cheng hui
wo ai bu mie
fan hua ru san qian *** liu shui
wo zhi qu yi piao ai liao jie
zhi lian ni hua shen de die
ni fa ru xue qi mei le li bie
wo fen xiang...
(applause) So Danial. When did you first learn to sing in Chinese?
I think it was very brave of him... Because...
Because he has to sing acappella... but we gave him a standing ovation so...
It was awesome! It was really, really awesome because...
It's not always that you get to perform in front of hundreds of soldiers. Boys and stuff, so... Its really... gratifying...
So you can see everybody's having fun... Everybody letting loose.
So... its really awesome. Being in Tekong is one of my favourite.
MDC ARTISTE Sezairi Sezali: It really feels kinda good coming back you know. It's a bit nostalgic,
I mean, seeing... Seeing the MPH (Multi-Purpose Hall) and... Seeing tonners go past and seeing recruits with shaved heads and...
It reminds me a lot about my days in... in BMT school. Very nostalgic.
Company spirit is there... And I can see that everyone is really enjoying themselves.
I think that the evening was... enjoyable. For most of the recruits...
It's a good chance for us to let our hair down, especially for the commanders as well.
I think the spirit was great. Because it was not only... the recruits but the commanders also went in and jumped around...
Pushed around... Laughed around... And sang... Sang with us.
I'm feeling quite... crappy...
Cos of my ankle.
I guess... Recruit's evening does, sort of... signify that it's coming to the end of BMT. It's like a pit stop before the end.
The mood is... kind of makes... my section mates are very close to me... And... (sniff)
They're the one who pull me through the hard times. When things are really down... Say like, during field camp...
We pull each other through... Each one of us, every one of us in the section has had our ups and downs
and the others are always there to bring their spirits up.
