Male Speaker: This public sports centre is one of the few in Britain that isn’t owned
by a council, it’s a charity. It’s got everything you’d expect and some things
you wouldn’t. But the problem is skis and toboggans don’t mix. And as I don’t ski,
I’ve opted for the toboggan. Well whilst that certainly was great fun for me, there’s
a bit of a problem for the children here, isn’t there Jody, what’s the problem?
Female Speaker: We all love tobogganing but we can’t go ‘cause the skiers are out
there.
Male Speaker: Teysha you’ve got a solution to this problem, what is it?
Male Speaker: We need our own tobogganing slide.
Male Speaker: And this Tessa is where you want to build this new toboggan run, isn’t
it?
Female Speaker: Yes it is, it’s an overgrown slope at the moment but what we want to do
is to clear all that and build a timber frame that’s covered with a special carpet for
tobogganing and the kids are going to have such great fun coming down, it’s a really
good exercise walking back up to the top of the slope again.
Male Speaker: This is more than just a bit of fun isn’t it for children?
Female Speaker: It is, it has a really a serious side, it’s so important that children get
active, get off the settee and use more than just exercising the thumbs. They’ve got
to exercise their whole body and yes they say, it’s extremely good fun coming down,
but it’s a really good CV workout going back up to the top again.
