Hello friends, welcome. 'm Eduardo Boticario. This time I bring you
a series of exercises in which we will work both coordination
and independence. I call about 16 variations coordination.
What does this mean? It means that these exercises
are going to work based on sixteenth notes.
In groups of four sixteenth.
part of our body that sings, either hands or feet,
will play all
the possible variations that give us four sixteenths.
Since no play anything
to play the four notes,
through all intermediate combinations. That is, we can not play anything,
play the first sixteenth, we can play the second,
we can touch the third, we can touch the fourth.
It would not be more one-note combinations
so you would spend to play two notes. We can play the first two,
we can play
the second and third, we play the third and fourth,
etc Then we will play three.
We can play the first three, the last three,
the first two and the last,
etc All possible combinations. This gives us
a result of 16 possible combinations
so I call 16 variations coordination.
How are we going to work?
We will work on an
Ostinato
What is Ostinato?
Word that comes from Italian.
As far as we are concerned as drummers,
refers to a rhythmic formula, more or less complicated,
repeated, unchanged over time.
That is, it is a rhythm
that will be repeated over time
without changing anything. All the while exactly the same. For example:
All the time we want. That is an Ostinato.
The way to work these exercises is to take
different ostinatos, more or less complex,
play it
and introduce variations in sixteenths.
In this case, this first exercise, called it
singing hands
Why? Because going to be the hands that will make
the changes. We will be playing an ostinato and the right hand or
the left hand will be playing variations going.
Well, not to extend ourselves more,
let's start with the exercises. Hope you like, will be useful,
you have fun and you get to acquire
greater coordination and greater independence.
'll See!
