Hello there, I’m Jim Glover, That Branding Guy, for Once a Day Marketing. Today is Smart
Monday, a whole new week and we are going to look at the soul of a brand.
Have you ever heard the expression an old soul? Well, that’s somebody that seems to
have been around forever, they are very understanding, they are very giving and caring people. People
you like to be around.
So think about the people you hang out with, the people that are your friends that you
have gravitated to. There is something about them that you like and that is there soul.
And think about yourself, how do you sort of emit that feeling out into the world of
people around you. Whether it be first time encounters or people you’ve known for a
long time. What is your own soul.
What I’ve been talking about are those things we like in people, or their core values. That’s
the same thing with a company’s brand. Are they good, are they caring, are they helpful,
maybe they are adventurous, maybe there is some toughness.
We like to see those things in the people we associate with, and we also like to see
those things in the companies and the brands we associate with and that makes up the soul.
Those are the guiding principles if you will of a brand and it’s the reason for us to
care and it’s the reason for us to connect with that brand. If they are not there, there
is no connection.
Take a look at the core values of your own brand, your own brand’s soul. Do you like
what you see? If you do, well then share that with your potential customers. If not, then
work hard to change those values and then again continue to share what the soul of your
brand is all about. And the people that like those values will find you.
That wraps up Smart Monday, try your best to join us by tomorrow for Strategic Tuesday.
