I’m Simon Heawood and I’m on BA Business Management. I really enjoy it, there’s always
a good vibe. I’ve got involved in quite a lot, so you
see a lot of people in and around that you know all the way through which is great fun
because there’s always a friendly atmosphere.
It’s such a good variety, you get the difference between lectures, seminars and everything
but then also within that, you do on hand experiences, you look at case
studies rather than it just being a taught basis. Then you also get put in scenarios
where you’re doing different things so it really works in your favour. I worked for
the University as an international student support officer, where I was helping international
students with general enquiries and things like that within their time here, through
to showing them the town, organising events and everything.
The placement experience was incredible. For the University on it’s own, it was seeing
the staff from the other point of view so to understand it in a bit more detail, you
always see it as a student from the one side, but understanding what the staff are going
through really added a completely perspective to how I view things now. And the on hand
experience and knowledge I’ve got from it is great.
The teachers are great, really friendly, it’s a much more social environment, but also I’ve
made great friends while I’ve been here. They’re really seen my through
whether it’s been tough times, or whether it’s
been enjoying it and it all fits in with the whole of Huddersfield in general.
