Hello there, I’m Jim Glover, That Branding Guy, for Once a Day Marketing. Before we begin
today I want to remind you that we have a new LinkedIn Group for Once a Day Marketing.
If you are a small business or entrepreneur looking for some branding and marketing support
I recommend you join the group. And, if you are a branding and marketing expert or wizard
I also suggest that you join the group if you are willing to share that information
with these companies.
Today we are going to be talking a little bit about the misconception about the brand.
I do a lot of lecturing about branding and what a brand is. It’s interesting to me
that most people don’t really have a clear understanding of what a brand is. Many think
the brand is just the product. They think about the qualities of the product, the attributes
of the product, the uses of the product and so forth and they think that is the brand.
On the other side of the continuum a lot of people think that a brand is nothing more
than a symbol like a logo or a slogan. So they really don’t understand that the brand
is all things, they have a misconception of what the brand truly is.
For those people that think the brand is the product, well, they are correct. And those
people who think a brand is a logo or a slogan are also correct. But a brand is many more
things. It’s the personality of the brand, it’s the emotional and it’s the self-expressive
benefits of the brand. It’s the brand-customer relationships. In reality, a brand is simply
everything.
It is the product it is those symbols and all the other elements as well. So, in your
travels as you are developing your brand keep all those factors in mind.
Thanks so much for joining us today on Smart Monday, try your best to stop by tomorrow
