Alright. Let's talk about the drags on an outfit. Probably the most important feature
on a reel is the drag. First of all, you want a nice smooth drag. This particular Shimano
offers that. But, most importantly, before you pick up and start fishing you want to
check your drag and make sure that the tension is not too tight or too loose. Obviously,
if it's too tight and you get a fish and you set the hook it's going to pop your line and
pull out. On the other hand, if the drag is too loose there's not enough power to set
the hook. And, again you lose. So, when I grab an outfit I pick it up. First thing I
do, is I check and this particular reel it has what they call a front drag system. Simply
by turning this drag ***, it regulates the amount of tension that you could apply on
the fish. In this case, it's pretty tight. So, I would back that off a little bit and
get it to where it's kind of halfway medium. There's no real pound test thing. It's just
a matter of feel. But, that is a very important feature to remember when you pick up not only
a spinning outfit. But, any piece of tackle in general.
