Hello and welcome to this fsxeurope tutorial video...
Today we are continuing with our flight from Madeira, for a left hand circuit pattern
I'm will be going through the air traffic control procedures and
the formats you need to know when flying the FSXEurope Server
So the first we need to do is we need to contact the departure
frequency which i already registered in the frequency of the aicraft
Uh we`re gonna contact departure, we`re gonna give them a callsign
then we are going to say the altitude we are at and the the altitude we are climbing to
so what i would say is Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha
is out 2,500 for six thousand - and they would say
roger altimeter recognized but we`ll go for that in a monent
so what we need to is we need to get hold of the departure
well contact departure now and you can listen to the interaction i have with the airtraffic
control Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha is 2500 for 6000 - Golf Lime Mike Papa Alpha
Roger, radar contact, left traffic is approved -
report baseleg. OK so i have finished that conversation with the air traffic
control now.
what they`ve said is they said radar contact, now that means they can see me on the
board
that's great and then they can track my flight
then I also said contact me when I'm baseleg
so what thats means is that i`ll do a downwind turn
so i`ll be facing almost parallel to the runway
then i`ll turn again to go to the left which will bring me uh in line with the runway and that will be the
the baseleg so once im about, once im on that turn
turn to the left then i`ll report to him that i am on the
the baseleg to the airfield, i`ll show you this now on this diagram now so you can see your coming
across down on the downwind which is you know the parallel to the runway
and then we go on the left base, round
to line up the airfield, so at the moment I'm turning onto the downwind
self stop my time in a moment to the downwind
and then as I get on baseleg i`ll have to report to the airtraffic
controller that im on baseleg and he will give me further instruction
but for the meantime you can just maintain VFR errr,
resume own navigation
okay so im currently approaching baseleg, im actually on the baseleg at the moment but i
haven't contacted airctraffic
control, because its quite a long baseleg, let me show you on the flightplan
where i am at the moment, so you can see the airplane
on the map for the moment, you can see that im kinda
coming over the island and then i will be doing a left hand turn to
the airfield.
So i`ve flown downwind which is here, and im turning on the baseleg at the moment
but as you can see, cause i gottah go over the terrain it's quite a long approach
so i'll need to contact the air traffic control very soon
and let them know that I'm on basleg, so what i`ll do is call them now
and uh, the format will be: Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha
on basleg, so its your callsign and then just stating what your
doing, so what i`ll do now is call him now and you can
listen to what he says and i`ll explain all the information he gives you
after he given us, ok, well so i`ll contact him now
Golf Lime Mike Papa Alpha is on baseleg.
Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha - Roger - Report runway in sight
contact tower on 118.50. OK - so i have reported
that i`m baseleg to the aitraffic controller and he said - roger Golf Lima
Mike Papa Alpha
report runway in sight and what that means is that he wants me to
call him back
when I have the runway in sigh so he can issue the landing clearance, he also said
that i need to contact the tower frequency so you`ll know there is a frequency
change back tower which is who we started off with
when we started off at the ground, the one we contact when getting the take-off
clearance
so when we have get runway in sight we`ll contact the tower
so we`ll switch frequencies and we`ll say runway in sight, but i`ll skip to that bit in the video
and then a will contact tower when we get to that point. OK so now we`re starting the
final turn
that will get us in line with the runway, so in a minute i will be
turning left and hopefully we should get the runway in sight
and at that point the formet that we`ll use to contact the tower
is Golf Lime Mike Papa Alpha - Tower
Runway in sight - then normally what would happen is
the tower will issue the clearance for the uh
a landing and uh, and then we'll
continue with the approach, so i got the runway in sight at the moment - obviusly its
going to be a hard approach as there is terrain
to come over to land, but i do have the runway is sight as well, contact the
tower-frequency
so what I'll do now is i`ll go and contact the air-traffic controllers at the tower
and I'll let you listen that - Madeira Tower, good evening, Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha
has the runway in sight - Golf
Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha - Roger - Cleared to land runway 5, winds zero five zero
at 20 knots gusting to 25. Roger that Golf Lima Mike Alpha
Cleared to land runway 05. OK so we have had the landing clearance issued so we`ve
clearend to land, we have been told the wind
of the airfield so we can take that into consideration
on our approach so we obviusly got quite allot of wind,
for, for this arrival, and due to the winds its gonna be some
crosswinds
which makes it hard approach, but once we have done that, once we are on the ground we`ll
exit the, the runway as soon as we can and then we`ll contact ground
for clearance to ehm, go to the gate
so eh, so now i`ll let you sit back and enjoy the landing
Sink Rate, Sink Rate - Five Houndred
Three Houndred
Approaching decission height
40 - 30 - 20
Ten
okay welcome back to Madeira airport, that was a bit of a ruff landing but uh
that's a hard approach everyone got back safe and sound though
so what we`ll need to do once we`re back on the ground,
is we need to request permission to taxi to the
gate, of the ground controller, so we`ll use the same format as we did when we departed
saying Golf Lima Mike Papa Alpha requesting permission to taxi to the gate
so what's have given us the permission to taxi to the gate
we`ll taxi to the gate we want to, so we might in the case go back to
what i think is A13 and it might not be A13 I think I'm
planning to go there, but i`ll show you on the chart the taxi-roads we`re gonna use, we`re gonna
go onto Alpha again and turn onto the
representative gate that we need to go to, so in our case we`re gonna go to
A13 I think
eh, but as I said before it's really good to use a chart on these larger airports
because it lets you move around a lot quicker the one would be to go
to the eh, to go online and have to look you know, it's best to have them
before you started taxing, it really does make everything more efficient
but in terms of this video really, thats the end of the video for the
moment, theres uh, there is not much to be said, we have shown you how to contact departure
after you
took-off, then how to get, uh the clearance to land
we've shown you to talk to them about baseleg and explained what baseleg is
and shown you the flightplan of Madeira - so if you wanna come here fly and do this
route - and follow the tutorial that would be probably really good and then it gets
you into the idea of
how to use the charts and how to understand them better
and what we`ll do in time is i`ll add the charts download links into the description
but for now that is the end of the video, i really do hope you have enjoyed this one
eh and I hope to see you next time, please do
subscribe and like us on our err on our page
it wil be really good and there are more tutorials to come soon
so thank you very much for watching have a good night bye bye!
