Wha’ts upi guys! Naomi here with your Fix for Wednesday, September 7th.
Starting us off, we’ve got a slew of 3DS news today:
A scan from popular gaming magazine Famitsu was all over the interwebs this morning, confirming
the existence of the rumored circle-pad expansion for the Nintendo 3DS. The expansion, which
hooks on to the system like a cradle, adds a second analog stick, allowing developers
the opportunity to create dual-analog control for games on the handheld. Games like…
Monster Hunter 3G, which was confirmed to be in development via the same Famitsu scan.
Also headed to the 3DS is a new Yoshi side-scroller from the developers of Kirby’s Epic Yarn,
a new title from the Wario Ware team, a new Etrian Odyssey, a new Ace Attorney, and a
new God Eater. In other words, there’s a whole lot of new headed to your handheld,
and it’s about frickin’ time. Nintendo is expected to touch on all of this
and more at their upcoming Tokyo 3DS showcase next week. According to a story from Japanese
gaming site Hachimaki, the company will also have an eShop demo announcement, including
the confirmation of a Super Mario 3D Land trial, a Legend of Zelda: Four Swords release
date, and much, much more. For PC gamers, Steam Trading is no longer
in beta. For the last month, Steam users have been able to swap Team Fortress 2 items with
each other from outside the game. But now you’ll be able to trade stuff from Portal
2, Spiral Knights, and the free-to-play MMO, Three Rings’. The in-game stores of all
three titles are having sales this week to celebrate the occasion, so go buy, buy, buy
and then swap til you drop. Minecrafters, this’ll be real quick, but
I just thought I’d let you know that the 1.8 patch has been delayed. Minecraft developers
tweeted earlier today that they’re not quite sure when the patch will be released, with
their best guess being the 12th of this month. Bummer.
Finally, one last thing, guys. There’s a morsel of hope for a Mirror’s Edge sequel.
Speaking with OXM, DICE’s Patrich Bach claims that they “have not killed the franchise”
and that although he wouldn’t say anything about the future, a sequel is possible. Here’s
to DICE keeping the Faith AND THAT’S YOUR FIX FOR SEPTEMBER 7th, 2011.
