This is a wire wrap tutorial by Rachel Murgatroyd and today I am going to show you
some really pretty uh... hair pins
and these are they they have small pearls on the end and little
swarovski beads, sparkly bits on the end. Now I have tried to take a photo
and show you what they look like in but believe me fastening my hair up, sticking pins in then
taking a photo of the back of my head!
Not right good. Okay Materials for each pin I used 3 pearls, three swarovski head pins
and a hair grip or a hair slide
uh... tools just some snips and some pliers so really not a lot
This is the pin
we are going to be making, obviously
the more pins you have the prettier it looks in the back of your hair
so just a normal hair grip
and i'm gonna show you how to
pop the three beads on the top
um...
there's my
three
hair pins cos I'm going to make three
eventually
and I've got these little
headpins they have a little tiny swarovski crystal on top.
but any headpins would do
It really really doesn't have to be
you know sort of any particular one, and then I've got
three
pearls
now if you don't want to use pearls you could use beads or anything Swarovski beads
look really pretty with these when made
and then you could do them with a plain head pin
So take your head pain
and pass it through your bead
there we go
so I have a little sparkle at the ends
now taking your pliers
going to grip
just below the pearl I don't want it too tight there and I'm going to do a little bend
then I'm going to pass that
through
the loop at the top of the hair pin
now this doesn't matter what hairpins you use
just bend that
around
you see it's just hanging there, You could use the bigger looser
hair pins, small tight ones, it's up to you. Now just
gripping across there with my pliers, tighten that wire down
just a little bit
and I'm going to turn it round
pull that wire to the side of the bead
now I'm not going round the bead I'm just making sure
that it's ready to go down
and through the pliers. THE PLIERS!! Honestly I get worse, go through the hair pin
so just tighten that up
now it doesn't matter if these are super tight or if they are a little wobbly
because once they are in your hair
the movement is nice anyway
so I've got to push that wire
through the middle of pin
just grip the edge with my pliers
and I will pull that all the way through
It is probably the nail varnish that is putting me off I'm not used to wearing nail varnish
Hence the reason I thought of the pins I went out to a do and I had my hair up, so you think of pins
the nail varnish wont last long believe me the way I treat my hands it will be wrecked in two minutes
once I have gone round
really like one and a half / twice just snip that off
and tighten the end down
now you do need to make sure these ends are tightened down and quite flush cos otherwise
they will catch in your hair
So that is my first bead
a little bit loose
But it doesn't matter don't worry about it. So the second one
exactly the same thing
popped the head pin
through the pearl
take your pliers
make a little bend
shift that one out of the way
and pass that through and wrap it around at
the side
you don't want to wrap these wires over the top of each other because it will all become
too bulky
so make sure it is at the side
tighten it up a little bit with your pliers
grab the ends
wrapping round
through the pin
Grip. Pull. and all the way up to the top again
tighten that down with my pliers
and then I am just going to take my snips and
take off any excess
Flatten down
the little end
so that it is smooth, there we go
So I've now got two
little pearls
on the end
but you do need three
It is one of those things odd numbers look better - Like with flowers
Beads - Odd numbers
Head pin through the bead, now this time we go in a little bit differently. I am going to push that
between the other two beads, like that
and just bend up upwards with my thumb
when it is in the right place I take the wire and I bend
all the way the three. So I am like
gathering together like that
and a little bit further, just keep going until I've gone round a good couple of
times
tightening it down
a little bit further I think
and then
once you are sure that your
beads are nice and secure
just pull that round a bit more
you can just take off
the excess
and flatten down the end
and there you go
A very sweet pretty little hair pin
which can go in your hair
There see got two now
and
they look lovely
