Sanrio and Hello Kitty are among the world's most recognizable brands,
boasting a Facebook fan base of nearly five million people.
Recently, Room 214 was tasked to put that fan base into action
and drive fans to retail stores.
We set out to create something that would get Facebook fans up and moving to
stores and also capture measurable data to validate our social media initiatives.
How did we accomplish these goals? We built the Sanrio Stores Facebook tab.
Now every Sanrio Facebook fan has easy access to all the detailed store information
and promotions they need right from Facebook.
First, we made it easy and fun to find the nearest store. Fans were given a simple, engaging way
to access to store location information and get directions straight
from the Sanrio and Hello Kitty Facebook pages.
The users could also search by state and city or enter a zip search to quickly find
their nearest store.
The best part; the Sanrio Stores tab was integrated with the Sanrio(dot)com store locator
to provide the most up-to-date information, eliminating the
need for redundant maintenance efforts.
Second, we added the power of realtime updates to Sanrio store listings.
Store managers could add a bit of personality and specific information for
their location by posting to their Twitter account.
We also included a trigger banner that gave managers another way to post events
and store specific promotions.
Next, we gave fans great reason to head to the nearest store with Facebook
exclusive Sanrio deals.
At the launch the stores tab, Hello Kitty and Sanrio Facebook fans were
rewarded with a forty percent off coupon that could be printed out and redeemed at any
participating location.
Finally, we made it easy to create and manage a huge database of stores across
multiple Facebook pages through our easy to use admin section.
Each store listing could be individually managed and updated through our simple admin
interface.
Any change we made was immediately reflected on multiple Sanrio Facebook communities.
In the end, the Stores tab made it easy and fun for fans connect with the
nearest Sanrio boutique store and save on their favorite Sanrio products.
Within weeks, hundreds of fans visited retail stores and we helped improve
sales, customer acquisition, and customer loyalty.
Not bad for an initial test run of the Stores tab.
Best of all, we can create and run an endless number of new promotions in the
months and years to come.
