Because of lack of references to show how Glansevern gardens used to look...
...Neville and his family have completely redesigned the garden.
But, it seems like it's been like this for centuries.
And what's the name of this garden?
It's called 'Wall Garden.'
Because of the walls of course!
Was it your wife's idea?
My wife has designed the garden. She has a great imagination.
This gate is full of imagination. Did she design this?
No... This gate was made by William O'Brian.
So it had been commissioned for the purpose of this garden.
And he only lives up the road?!
About half a mile away.
Handy!
Where next?
The Folly Garden!
Yes, gardening can be a form of 'foolishness...'
But, this is another type we're talking about here.
This building is a romantic folly.
There's no proof it existed here originally.
But that didn't stop Neville!
Why did you decide to build it here?
Well, the name of the house is Glansevern...
There's Hafren over there...
It was natural to build somewhere you could sit and look at the river.
I notice you refer to the river as 'Hafren', although the name of the garden is 'Glansevern.'
I don't call the place Glansevern...
That's the name it was given by the Owen family.
So, it's Glansevern near the Hafren!
Can I see some more of your garden?
Of course, this way!
There are all sorts of sculptures around the garden.
Including my favourite animal...
These are fantastic!
Why hares? Do they mean anything?
Not in particular...
But I'm very fond of them.
Have you seen the little one over there?
This one keeps a watchful eye...
What are they made of?
Resin!
I have a hare in my garden....But not quite like this one!
I could put my hand on my heart and say this is one of the most amazing gardens I've ever seen!
Not just because of the flowers, but the wildlife.
And the lake is fantastic!
I'll definitely be back here!
...When it's sunnier!
Glansevern is open to the public between April and September.
