I'm Dr. Cynthia Shoemaker.
I'm the university coordinator at the Southern Maryland Higher Education Center,
and I've taught for 20 years at the graduate level.
I think characteristics of the teaching and learning experience include,
and this shows up in evaluations in the written or video
or personal evaluation you ask what have you learned that's new in this course,
and people say one of two things.
And then you always ask what will you do differently now, and then I get 10 or 15 things.
So always ask, written, video, whatever way, what will you do differently now,
and then you'll get the interesting list.
Some people never admit they learn anything new.
So that's kind of a throwaway beginning -
>> So you're really talking about continuous improvement in your, in your experience,
and you're always looking for feedback on how to make it better.
>> Dr. Cynthia Shoemaker: Well, and then the ways people will actually tell you.
If you say, if, you know, if they say they didn't learn anything new,
but they'll do 15 or 20 new things, I'm happy -
>> Yeah.
>> Dr. Cynthia Shoemaker: I don't care what they call it.
