Hi everybody
I've finally a microphone So I'll be able to make a little tutorial,
a quick one
which has been asked several times
In this tutorial we'll learn how to make a white glow
all around a character
all around a character
It's an effect of light which comes from behing the character.
You'll see this effect on many drawings of mine like this one
or this one.
You'll see that it's very simple to make.
it takes only a few seconds to make it.
Here's an example:
It's the last drawing I've made
As you can see, most of the layers are flattened
As you can see, most of the layers are flattened
But I still have some (3).
It's great since this will give me the occasion
to show you 2 situations (flattened and not flattened)
So, if you've flattened you're drawing, great!
You just need to use the CTRL key
and click at the same time on your drawing layer.
So...
I'll make a zoom in...
And here you'll see the dotted lines
wich represents the silhouette of your drawing.
Well, it was the first method. Now if you have many layers
just do the same thing but
when you click on each layer,
you'll see that it will select what's on your layer.
you'll see that it will select what's on your layer.
For example here, on this layer
I've added some details at the end of my drawing...on this other layer too...
I can flatten them if I want but this is not the case and it's good for this example!
So, we want to select everything at the same time! It's a little bit harder.
You just need to click on CTRL and SHIFT at the same time
You just need to click on CTRL and SHIFT at the same time
*searching the good word for shift in french*
*searching the good word for shift in french*
*searching the good word for shift in french*
and now, just click on all your layers that concern your drawing. Now you know
that you've selected everything.
Well, when you've done this step
make a new layer.
and fill it with white.
I'm gonna use a big brush, with white color.
Ouups. I've forgotten a step!
A very important one :P and my computer is slow... I'm so happy !
Hurry up ! You can make it ! Go ooooon!
As I said before, you've selected your character. What we want here is to invert the selection.
As I said before, you've selected your character. What we want here is to invert the selection.
As I said before, you've selected your character. What we want here is to invert the selection.
I'll make a zoom out..
So you can use > Select > Invert selection
or you can also use the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+I; I use it very often.
Tadaaa, the selection is inverted.
And NOW on your new layer, you fill the selection with white.
Ok, it's going to take a little while... You can also use the pot
which is here.. But most of the time
I don't like the render... It's not really clean...
We can see the pixels... etc.
So! Now you should have
a layer... like this.
I'll take the time to explain this little shortcut!
I use the alt key
and while clicking on the layer it selects it and hide all the other layers.
and while clicking on the layer it selects it and hide all the other layers.
So you can unselect, the dotted lines disappear (CTRL+D)
Stay on this white layer (Haha I've got he's little brother on the top..) I did this effect at home already
bit I'm gonna deleted it, we don't need 2!
So, this layer is selected.
Now go to effects > Blur > Gaussian blur
Now go to effects > Blur > Gaussian blur
Now go to effects > Blur > Gaussian blur
and here, have fun!
You can make it really visible or not...
In general I don't make it too visible a first time
and the I duplicate my layer...
with the shortcut CTRL + J
And I now have it twice.
So the effect is more visible.
and if I want it more visible
in some areas,
I take an eraser
a blurred one, and I'm gonna erase the areas
that I don't want to be too shiny. For example on the hands... so you can still see them.
Here we are, it's quite simple!
Don't hesitate if you have questions, it's my first tutorial
that is...
explained...
in live :P
It's not easy for me since I do this before going to work!
I'm late!
So, don't hesitate in your comments,
If you have another method
if you have questions...
I listen
don't hesitate to ask
tutorials about some effects that you may
have seen on my drawings,
in my gallery.. katikut.deviantart.com
I'll try to answer
when I get the time!
Have a nice day, see you soon! :)
