It is a preliminary cost-benefit-analysis of a Northern Illinois biodiesel program.
I was looking at President Peters’ vision 20-20 plan actually and he wanted to increase
sustainability on campus so I looked at the vegetable oil and thought, “what are we
doing with that?” So I wanted to actually put it into the vehicles, I thought that would
be a great plan. I actually found out that they have 336 gallons of vegetable oil that
we can actually use and they have a 95% diesel to 5% biodiesel mix in the vehicles here so
we wanted to put in that vegetable oil for that 5%. We found out that if we buy this
machine called the “BioPro 380x” that it can turn 100 gallons of waste vegetable
oil into a biodiesel in just 21 hours. It’s definitely been a great learning experience
for me.
