Out of nowhere
this man hit me like a linebacker
and dove in the car after my purse
and I thought, ugh uh
and I went right in after him
and I tried to pull him out to get my purse
I couldn't, he got me off of him
and hit me again
and took off running
so, I got my cellphone out and called 911
and got in the car and took off
I caught up with the man
and the police still aren't there
so, he's walking off
and I think, I'm going to lose this man
the police aren't here
so, I just step on the accelerator
and hit him...I did
I did it to stop him
I immediately put my foot on the brake
but, he flipped up in the air.
and he got up and looked at me in disbelief.
He then ran off into the movie parking lot.
A movie had just let out, people were coming out to their cars
and somebody that was chasing him on foot had shouted
that he had taken my purse.
So, about six men surrounded him
and detained him until the police got there.
I just kind of told him to pull over
We were only about five minutes out from the hospital
and I told him to pullover on the shoulder of Brian boulevard
So, his middle name is Brian.
I felt completely unprepared for the situation
I never trained for that, to deliver a baby
I knew that I needed someone on the phone
someone that was trained in this sort of thing.
So, I thought I was going to grab my phone.
It was sitting right there, I just grabbed it.
He was born in two pushes, one for the head, one for the body
At that point the 911 operator, was giving Jeremy a lot of instructions
about cleaning off the babies nose and mouth, covering him up with a towel
It was February.
It was critical, you know
Just to have, to know that
help is on the other end of that
I would've been terrified without having someone on the phone.
It's just reasurance knowing that someone is there listening
that can get help to you and guide you through if you need help
I ran over to the young man
Josh went to the phone and at this time it was a land line
The 911 said, I'm sorry we're going to have to put you on hold.
So, I said, you know you can't put us on hold.
At that point we got out the cellphone
called 911 again,
and said yeah we're not gettin any luck here
They said it's no problem
we'll have someone there in five minutes.
I said alright, went back
and he had flatlined on the floor.
We did chest compressions and the breathing.
Checked him every, I'd say two minutes.
He was still flatlining,
there was no breath, his eyes were rolling in the back of his head.
He was pretty much dead,
unless we continued to breath and pump for him.
If we hadn't used the cellphone
the guy probably would not have made it.
Because, the landline, I don't know what was going on.
Didn't work.
So, he's alive and well.
