Hello everyone, today we're taking a look at the Case-Mate Tough Xtreme Military Grade Case
that's a big claim for a case! To be military grade, but
let's take a look.
So with a lot of cases you tend to find that you get either like a back cover or a front cover
you don't get a case that tends to encase, as it were, the entire device. So,
with this one, as you can see, it's a bit of a massive beast.
It pretty much dwarfs
the Samsung Galaxy S4
covering it completely.
So, the way to use this is first we pop out the front, like that,
then we place it over the Galaxy S4
so that's like a clamshell style fitting and that provides you with an actual
cover for the glass,
it covers the majority of the fascia, so the surrounds and the sides there as well so your
button press positions as well,
and partially on the bottom. It doesn't protect the back.
So then all we do, we take the cover and we drop it into
the cover as it were like that.
And we push down on these. Now, there's basically some rubber covers
top and bottom and those stop moisture and dirt and so on getting into your ports
and from that point of view
it is done and as you can see it's
a big case, but it's very very tough. It's ruggedized plastic so it has a rubbery
grip on the back of it which really allows you to feel like the device is in your hand and not going to slip through it
but it does add quite a bit of width
and height and thickness and everything is bulked out on this.
But it certainly makes me feel like my Galaxy S4 is well protected.
The screen cover is a piece of plastic so it's as scratch resistant as plastic is ever
going to be.
But more importantly it just give you something over that glass screen
a little bit better than, you know, a very thin piece of screen protector.
This is a reasonably thick piece of plastic. But crucially,
all the touch controls still work absolutely fine.
The ruggedized rubbery buttons
are a little bit stiff and difficult to hit but what you have to bear in mind is
who this case is aimed at.
Military grade so obviously it's going to be looking at people in military services
it's going to be looking at people in the police, fire brigade,
anyone who has a phone, or more importantly doesn't want to get it smashed
up while they're on the job.
So with this particular case
you've certainly got a huge amount of protection.
The only things I would say is
these ports
are quite deep
the port holes
as you can see there sound
and the camera and that may interfere with some of the light you'll get through if you're taking
pictures or some of the sound quality but it's a small price to pay to keep your S4
very well-protected.
As with all cases,
you know, nothing is going to be absolutely perfect so you're still going to have
to take some care with your device.
But popping in the Xtreme Mate I would say is going to give you an awful lot of
protection in comparison to you know, just a plastic case with just a cover or
just a screen protector.
This is a Galaxy S4
that's going to be very very difficult
to break. For starters you can see it's bouncing when it drops. That's always a good sign!
