New York Habitat Video
Visit Vacation Rental
rue du Fer a Moulin
Latin Quarter - Paris, France
Welcome to another New York Habitat
vacation rental video tour.
Our tour today takes us to a small
apartment located on rue Fer à Moulin
in the 5th district of Paris.
The neighborhood around this apartment
is called "quartier de la Mouff".
It gets its name from the nearby
rue Mouffetard, one of the oldest streets in Paris.
What was once a lower class neighborhood,
today the quartier de la Mouff
has turned into a charming area
with its small buildings and cobblestone
streets leading down to the Seine.
Entering from rue Fer à Moulin,
a small passageway takes you
to the studio apartment which is
located on the 1st floor of a small house.
Surrounded by sculptures,
this unique staircase leads you
to the entrance of the studio.
Upon entering the apartment,
you will find the kitchen.
The kitchen is equipped with a sink,
a stovetop, a fridge and cupboards with dishes.
You will also find a shelving unit with
a microwave, a toaster oven, a radio and cooking utensils.
There is also a small fold out table
attached to the wall just below the window.
The window faces a small
and quiet dead-end road.
When entering the main living space,
to your left you will find a mirrored closet
where you can store your belongings.
You will also find a double sofa bed
and a night stand with a telephone
and some books on France at your disposal.
The window in this room also faces
the quiet dead-end street.
Returning to the kitchen,
you will find the entrance to the bathroom.
The bathroom is equipped with a shower,
a sink and a small cabinet with a mirror.
Now let's go out and take a stroll
through this great neighborhood!
Not far from the apartment on
rue Fer à Moulin,
you'll find Le square Scipion.
This small garden area in the heart
of the city has a playground
and even a ping-pong table.
Continuing on, la Grande Mosquée
brings a change of architectural
scenery to the center of Paris.
Opened in 1926 as a place to
pay tribute to fallen Muslims
during World War I, this mosque today
is a place where you can go to pray,
worship or even have tea and couscous.
Created in 1626 by Louis XIII,
the Jardin des Plantes was originally
a medicinal herb garden.
Open to the public since 1640,
you can come to this amazing garden
to relax, take a stroll or visit the greenhouses.
This unique place in the heart
of Paris has been bringing together artists,
scientists and botanists for centuries.
Once inside the Jardin des Plantes,
be sure to visit le Muséum d'histoire naturelle,
where you will find the Gallery of
Evolution and the Gallery of Mineralogy.
The rue Mouffetard is one of the
most picturesque streets in Paris.
With its abundance of fruit stands,
cheese and wine shops,
this calm street is the perfect place
to do your grocery shopping!
Near the end of rue Mouffetard,
you will find the small église Saint-Médard.
This church was built between
the 15th and 18th century.
Its cemetery today is
covered by a small garden.
We'll end our video tour
today at the Manufacture des Gobelins.
This royal tapestry factory was created
by Louis IV in 1601.
It is best known for supplying the
court of Louis XIV and later monarchs.
