introduce us to your magazine and the world of artisan gelato
Good morning everybody. The magazine Punto IT is one of many specialized magazines
its style, design and contents, are a little bit different, it’s a relatively young magazine,
it has been published for 6 years and in these 6 years we have achieved
an excellent level of introduction,it can be found amongst other prestigious
magazines that talk about Gelato and pastries in this extraordinary, fun world of sweets.
This is the 31st edition of the Sigep exhibition, I've been present
at all 30 of them so I can say I know the complete history of the industry,
today is the third day of the exhibition and it’s going really well,
there are plenty of visitors,we trust in view of the imminent season
which for Gelato will start very well this year with Easter coming soon
and here in Italy the season usually continues until late October.
It has been a difficult year,with a crisis that has affected all sectors,
yet this wonderful product Gelato made in Italy
has been untouched because it is a product that is deep-rooted for its taste
and pleasure in the Italian way of life, it has not suffered cutbacks in consumption,
as a matter of fact Italians love Gelato and continue to consume it increasingly,
and what’s more Italian gelato is achieving great success all around the world.
The overall effort to globalize the industry using internet, television and all the efforts
that the associations and companies have made to make the product known worldwide,
have been effective,as today we can witness from this exhibition
there are thousands and thousands of operators from abroad.
Italian Gelato is known around the world as Gelato, very different to ice cream,
which is more a product of American connotation. Just like' pizza,
is known as pizza all over the world,Italian Gelato is called Gelato,
this is something to be proud of for the entire sector and industry,
it’s a product which is giving a 'big hand,
to the sector of confectionery, in the growth of the product
and helping to maintain certain standards such as the volume
of sales which are increasing,despite the fact that the general
market worldwide including the food industry is suffering slightly,
we can say that the Gelato continues to be a winning product.
Gelato and all that surrounds the world of Gelato from pastries
to the semifreddi (cold desserts)I think, is doing what we called
in the latest issue of our magazine a “Mission Possible”,
to maintain a strong position on the market, protect the profession
and a product that is exclusively made in Italy.We’re recognized throughout
the world as the creators of the best existing Gelato,
consequently the companies,trade fairs and magazines specialized in this sector,
can all contribute to ensure that this product becomes increasingly
appreciated and acknowledged by consumers.There is widespread belief,
that the consumer anywhere in the world, who comes into contact
with artisan Gelato,will never abandon it. It’s not just a product
that is trendy at the moment it’s a product that’s always in fashion.
As soon as the consumer gets to know the Italian artisan gelato
he falls in love with it and he will never give it up,
it’s suitable for all ages for children, adults and the elderly,
in fact it’s a product that has become part of the modern diet,
often replacing lunch,it's a complete product. Gelato is a product that must be
protected and defended,we direct our attention to the artisans,
and our magazine is bilingual Italian and English because the vast majority
of operators around the world use English as the language of conversation,
the magazine is translated into English in an attempt to give
a wider international approach. We believe that this recent crisis,
which everybody is saying we have overcome the most acute phase,
Gelato has not been affected and if it emerges immune from a crisis of this level,
we must all be very proud,from newspapers, gelato makers from all over the world,
companies of products,machinery, trade fairs,
like Sigep, I think it's a matter of pride for all.
