The God that I don't believe in is everything. You read the Old Testament and it seems that God's a right ***. Or there's the more modern view that we want a God that is everlasting love that is a parent figure there for us, that whatever we do he's always there to forgive us and to comfort us and to help us through a very difficult life. And obviously I prefer one to the other, but I think they're both just as unlikely.
If I could create a God that was what we want him or her to be, that was this loving figure that would allow our spirits to live forever and it would cover us every step of the way, then in a second I would push it. But I'm not [UNINTELLIGIBLE] convinced that's what would come about. What would come about might be the God who likes to flood things and burn things down and kill tons of people. Which one is going to pop up? If I didn't know which one, I'd try to figure that out. If I ultimately couldn't, I probably would not push the button because that's too big a risk to take.
