BROMLEY>>> The physios had to do some sort of routine, in the wards on New Years Eve,
Dr Guttmann was all for the patients having some sort of light relief, so we used to dream
up some sort of routine to music and dressed up and stuff. And we would do this in eight
wards, so in the first ward the sister gave everybody a drink, and we were rather nervous
and so on, by the time we got to ward eight, nobody cared because each of the sisters kept
plying you with something to drink as you went along. But the patients loved it especially
if you were hidden in some way, like we went as a hareem, lying on a trolley, and we had
all veils and things and the patients loved that, because they didn't know which was their
physio and each patient had their own physio, from start to finish, and they were always
trying to see who was who, and it was great fun.
