Vilsack: This is the rural tour...
The USDA is very interested in trying to
target our resources to make strong rural
communities with jobs, great places to live, to
have health care and great places to raise families.
We need help, not today but yesterday.
If you can't work, you can't do nothing.
That is a program that we need to keep and go forward with.
Thank you all for coming, I appreciate it.
Thank you for your service.
Nice to see you, sir. Nice to see you.
Thank you for coming to Louisiana.
Hopefully, you'll bring back what you saw,
what you felt and what you heard back up to D.C.
Biden: Folks, what we're all about today is priming
the pump to be able to build this firehouse.
This is kind of backwards, I know,
but I want to thank you - for giving me renewed
confidence we're going to get this done.
Vilsack: A lot of folks don't appreciate or
understand the full opportunity that broadband
can create for them.
We see this as a downpayment,
not a balloon payment, if you will.
We're also going to have a number of Workshops
around the country We need an even playing field if
we're going to be successful.
And as a result, those of us in the hinterlands of
Pennsylvania are able to have high speed internet.
Biden: Thanks an awful lot, and
we're going to see a real change over the next
couple of years.
Vilsack: It's an opportunity for us to
listen, but it's also an opportunity for us to
educate folks about what's already been done and
what's currently in the pipeline.
