Threaded Discussion for Students
A Threaded Discussion simulates traditional classroom discussions.
You can post comments to a discussion topic, react to other students' comments,
respond to ideas shared by your instructor or by others in the course,
and email the author of a thread.
Discussions take place asynchronously. This means you do not have to be online at the
same time as other students or your instructor to participate in a discussion.
Discussions start with a topic identified by your instructor.
You can log into the course whenever you want and then post to the threaded discussion
at your convenience. Responses to each topic display below the topic.
Remember, responses posted by your instructor display as highlighted, bolded text.
Many students enjoy using threaded discussions because they can compose their thoughts
before they post a comment, respond more thoughtfully to discussion topics,
and engage in lively debates that are less threatening than in a live classroom environment.
Responses are composed using the Visual Editor. Similar to any word processor, the Visual
Editor consists of features you can use to format your text, perform a spell check,
and add attachments.
Open a Threaded Discussion In the navigation tree, locate the Unit with the threaded
discussion you want open.
Select the threaded discussion item to open it.
