Hello everyone, and welcome to the behind the scenes for "Minecraft on xbox360 with HomeHacker2" series.
Today we'll be look in a little more detail toward how the production of this video took place,
and what it looks like from a video editor standpoint.
Firstly, you might want to start off by switching your viewpoint to 720p,
as this is what it was rendered in, and will give you the best quality of video.
The first thing you will notice is that there is a lot of data. There's at least 2 Video channels and 4 audio channels.
I've already marked up what everything means, as it was easier when I produced it,
the first layer of video is for the Picture In Picture (Or PiP) and the second is the 720p display output.
I originally had the concept of PiP as there was some content that I saw on my screen that Gundrik was not able to see.
I had no means of capturing and displaying my Video and audio, I had to briefly explain it to him
without leaving to much in or too much out in detail.
Gundrik was sporting enough to allow me to use his older capture card, which made the PiP capturing possible.
Firstly, we'll start of by explaining how I got the PiP to work, for example, scaling it, and moving it into the correct position.
To achieve the PiP, I used the Track Motion tween here.
I changed the size to 320X180 as it's still in 16:9 wide-screen ratio, and is scaled down by exactly 4 times.
I then moved it, and luckily placed it out of the way, so the only information that is missing is...
(Y) for your inventory and (X) for your crafting.
But, you may have noticed that when i did speak it over, I did say that would put it on the right side.
I was going to do this, but because what the player is wielding or holding is on the right side of the screen i decided against it.
As you can see for the "swap over" that's present on the video tracks, there is a simple crossover here.
I did originally want to do a "slow fade" so that the PiP and main video would swap over places...
... but, because of Vegas' laying system, I am unable to do this.
Let's see how the cross-fade works.
You will notice that there is 3 videos here.
if i remove this segment.......
...opps... hold on...
...let's try that again....
There is a video underneath. I had to do this, as if i place it over...
There is no cross-fade, well, for some reason there still is but it's not working properly.
It's going with this other video to the left which is wrong. as it will not cross-fade correctly.
I did have this one problem later in the video to make it work correctly. so that's why there's 3.
I did have to stretch it out a bit as the capture FPS between my and Gundrik's Capture cards are different.
ignore all this, it gets almost repeated.
It's now time to talk about audio.
There is a lot of sounds to deal with on minecraft already, imagine having two!
you will have noticed when Gundrik once opened a door, a moment or two later the door opened for me.
this is common, as it's lag-time as i did try my best to sync it up, but overall i can't fix latency.
To achieve the audio, we used a program to record our skype.
Luckily, it recorded my audio in 1 channel, and Gundrik's in the other channel.
Track 5 & 6 are the same audio file, I right-clicked and selected Channels -> left only/right only.
You'll also see notice the volumes are turned down here to different negative decibels.
the reason why I do this is to leave the audio at 0.0dB or less, to prevent distortion.
Here's an except, where i get hit by a Ghast. watch the volume in the top-right.
In this instance, it does not go above -1.2dB on either left/right channels.
Now, we're going to remove all of the restrictions that have been placed, to see how high it goes....
Now, let's play that back. Keep an eye on the Volume Master.
That exceeds 10dB. and distorted quite badly. That's what I was avoiding.
You may also see a orange line on all of these tracks.
This is a noise threshold. Very useful on my audio.
I have fairly horse breathing, so when I'm silent, my output is silent.
This stops silly things like microphone interference that you can hear with bad audio equipment.
